Job Title: RME Mechatronics & Robotics Technician (Temporary)

Job Description

This role focuses on installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex material handling, automation, and robotic systems in a large, high-speed distribution environment. You will perform predictive and preventative maintenance, diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, and ensure material handling equipment operates safely and efficiently. You will also use a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage work orders, document maintenance activities, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, repair, and maintain material handling equipment, including automated conveyor systems and related controls.
• Perform predictive and preventative maintenance routines on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, following established procedures and documentation requirements.
• Conduct battery changes and perform preventative maintenance on batteries to support uninterrupted operation of equipment.
• Troubleshoot and identify problems with material handling equipment, including robotics and automation systems, and implement effective repairs.
• Use electrical and mechanical knowledge to diagnose issues in motors, schematics, and system components, including PLC-based control systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics to support maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities.
• Enter downtime data accurately into daily logs and complete preventative maintenance (PM) sheets and other required documentation.
• Manage and update work orders within a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), ensuring accurate records of maintenance activities.
• Track, store, and organize department inventory, including spare parts and maintenance supplies, to support timely repairs.
• Follow and demonstrate safety standards in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) guidelines and organizational safety procedures.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance equipment reliability, maintenance processes, and system performance.
• Troubleshoot basic input and output functions of building operations systems and equipment.
• Operate and maintain robotic systems, ensuring they run safely and efficiently within the automated environment.
• Collaborate with other maintenance and operations team members to minimize equipment downtime and maintain high levels of system availability.

Essential Skills

• At least 2+ years of experience conducting quality predictive and preventative maintenance procedures on industrial or automated equipment.
• 2+ years of experience in the repair of material handling equipment (MHE) or automated conveyor systems and controls.
• 2+ years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical schematics.
• 2+ years of knowledge and hands-on experience with electrical and electronic principles.
• 2+ years of experience following and demonstrating safety standards in an industrial or maintenance environment.
• 1+ year of experience troubleshooting and diagnosing material handling equipment (MHE) systems.
• 1+ year of experience using Microsoft Office products and applications.
• High school diploma or equivalent education.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
• Experience with automated conveyor systems and material handling equipment.
• Experience completing preventative maintenance on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, including motors and systems using schematics.
• Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage work orders and maintenance records.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic input and output functions of building operations systems.
• Experience with MHE safety standards in accordance with OEM and safety guidelines.
• Willingness and ability to work any 10-hour shift as required by operational needs.
• Physical ability to walk significant distances during a shift and to lift up to 49 pounds as part of regular duties.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in distribution, logistics, manufacturing, or industrial environments performing maintenance on complex systems and industrial equipment.
• running diagnostics, inspections, troubleshooting, repairing equipment, and creating work orders for maintenance activities.
• Specific experience working with conveyors and other material handling equipment, including controls and robotics.
• Experience with PLC-based control systems, including at least 2+ years working with PLC-based controls.
• Experience with robotic operation and maintenance in an automated environment.
• Continuous improvement mindset, with an interest in enhancing equipment reliability and maintenance processes.
• Willingness to learn and grow within a reliability, maintenance, and engineering (RME) environment.
• Associates degree or higher from a vocational school or college with a focus in the mechanical or electrical field (preferred).
• 2+ years of apprenticeship or equivalent experience in the mechanical or electrical field (preferred).

Work Environment

The role is based in a large distribution facility that operates high-speed, automated, and predominantly robotic equipment. You will work with advanced material handling systems, conveyors, and robotics in a data-driven environment where performance is monitored through metrics and system reports rather than direct micromanagement. The position requires comfort with walking significant distances, often around 10,000 steps per day, and lifting up to 49 pounds as part of regular duties. You will work a 10-hour shift, and must be open to any shift assignment, including various days and times, to support around-the-clock operations. The environment is industrial and fast-paced, with a strong emphasis on safety, adherence to procedures, and collaboration with maintenance and operations teams.

This is a Contract position based out of Lubbock, TX.

The pay range for this position is $32.50 - $32.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Lubbock,TX.
