Court Monitor

The Court Monitor is responsible for overseeing the basketball courts during designated facility hours. The Monitor will enforce rules and policies, while ensuring a safe, fun area for members to interact and enjoy. This position may involve early morning, evening, and weekend responsibilities.

This position requires active, face-to-face leadership within programs and Monday-Friday availability, from 4:30 PM - 7:30 PM. Saturday availability preferred.

Essential Functions:

• Maintains supervision of members utilizing the basketball courts
• Enforces safety standards
• Enforces facility rules
• Follows emergency procedures as needed
• Monitors the use of the facilities
• Maintains all areas in clean, presentable fashion
• Handles member complaints
• Deescalates situations as needed

Performs any other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids Association.

Compensation: $14.35 - $17.93; Part-Time, Non Exempt (up to 25 hours per week)

Qualifications:

Three to six month's customer service, security, or supervision experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required. Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages and lifestyles. Ability to consistently enforce YMCA policies. Must be 18 years of age or older. Working knowledge of a computers and experience with a variety of software applications. YMCA experience preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registration:

• State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT)
• Blood Borne Pathogen training
• CPR Certification required within the first 60 days
• First Aid Certification required within the first 60 days

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to members, participants, and staff.
• Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding in order to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear.
• The employee is frequently required to use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• The employee is occasionally required to sit.
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
• The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.

Travel: 5-10% of local travel within the state of Michigan, primarily between other branch locations in the Greater Grand Rapids Association; occasional out-of-state travel maybe required for educational conferences or training.
