TITLE: TEACHER OF ENGLISH

2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR

This position will be filled in no less than ten (10) days after the date of this posting. Qualifications Valid New Jersey Teacher of English Certificate. Demonstrated knowledge of subject specialty and effective teaching methods. Thorough knowledge of New Jersey Student Learning Standards. Thorough knowledge and familiarity with instructional technologies. Ability to maintain a safe, secure and caring learning environment. Ability to communicate with parents/guardians. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Successfully undergo a criminal history check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal residency status. Meet the health qualifications required of all personnel. Meets NJ residency requirements or willingness to relocate to NJ within 365 days of employment. Must follow the guidelines of the Camden County Technical Schools' Nepotism Policy, File Code: 0142.1. Responsibilities Prepare lesson plans, select relevant materials, resources, and technologies that support instructional goals and student learning. Prepare lesson plans meeting school and district standards for format, differentiation, clear expectations and rigor. Planning reflects connections to New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards or Career Competencies and Camden County Technical Schools' curriculum. Planning recognizes and builds on prerequisite skills for new learning; cross-content connections deepen knowledge. Modify and adjust instructional plans and goals according to student achievement measured by ongoing assessments. Use Individualized Education Program (IEP) where prescribed. All goals are clear, relayed as student learning outcomes and measured by assessments. Exhibit positive verbal and non-verbal communication to encourage students. Organize tasks so student groups work independently and/or are engaged at all times. Prepare students to take responsibility for handling materials and supplies, maximizing instructional time. Inclusion teachers and technicians make contributions to planning and operation of the learning environment. Consistently display thorough understanding of content-specific instructional practices. Directions to students are clear; expectations define what students should learn. Use effective questioning strategies that are rigorous and encourage students to engage in active reasoning. Enable and expect students to inquire, investigate, and discuss critical questions and concepts. Adjust pacing of the lesson to be varied, appropriate, consistent, and differentiated for students' needs. Use multiple strategies to address student questions and peak interest. Establish and expand high expectations for all students, demonstrating that all will reach goals. Respond to misbehavior appropriately, avoiding escalation. Maintain accurate non-instructional records. Use assessment data to plan for individual students' needs. Report safety violations that cannot be corrected to the principal. Maintain professional competence and continuous improvement through development activities. Remediate recommendations from observations and evaluations. Collaborate with colleagues to share instructional activities, resources, and best practices. Provide students with career guidance and use community resources for workplace learning opportunities. Communicate with parents/guardians through email, telephone and preferably face to face meetings. Demonstrate knowledge of student progress indicators and strive to meet district averages. Analyze data to maximize student achievement. Maintain log of professional development hours required by the Department of Education. Fulfill annually the teachers' Professional Development Plan. Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations and board policy. Execute electronic data system requirements for lesson plans, attendance, grades, etc. Demonstrate competencies and expectations in lesson observations. Teach only approved curriculum assigned by the Board of Education. Perform other duties within scope of employment and certification as assigned. Salary & Benefits Salary is based on education, experience, and/or military service according to the Board of Education of the Camden County Technical Schools and Cam/Voc Education Association Agreement Salary Guide: $58,656-$92,982.
