Occupational Therapist

Job Summary and Responsibilities As an Occupational Therapist, you will help patients regain independence and quality of life so they can safely perform daily activities. Every day you will assess diverse patients (orthopedic, neurological, sensory, cancer recovery, etc.), develop treatment plans, and conduct evaluations/re‑evaluations. You will be expected to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, document thoroughly, and provide positive, motivating care to a high volume of patients. To be successful in this role, you must be flexible, adaptable, exceptionally organized, and a personable, motivating team player. Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Evaluates patient upon initial encounter to determine need for occupational therapy intervention and makes referrals to other treatment team members as deemed appropriate. Develops realistic goals with patient input; explains treatment plan and goals to patient. Plans occupational therapy treatment program for each patient based upon interpretation of evaluation results; interprets evaluation findings for patient, family, and treatment team members. Implements treatment or supervises treatment provided by Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, or occupational therapy student. Delegates routine care to supportive personnel as appropriate. Acts in a supervisory role to ensure proper execution of tasks. When treating Medicare patients, collects data necessary for Medicare billing and provides the necessary billing documentation to the Medicare claims coordinator for billing purposes.
