Job Details:


• Night shift hours from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Schedule is provided 4 weeks at a time with 2 weeks advance notice
• No on-call responsibilities
• Must be available to work 2 holidays (nights/evenings or day of)
• Minimum 3 years of strong emergency department experience required
• First-time travelers considered with EPIC experience
• Patient ratios: 1:3 on routine days, flexing to 1:4 or 1:5 during high census; 1:2 for RNs with critical care experience
• Patient population includes behavioral health (adults/peds), geriatrics, pediatrics, and general adult patients
• Handle trauma (falls, MVAs, GSWs, stabbings), cardiac (STEMI, CHF), neurological (strokes), respiratory (RSV, COPD), and mental health cases
• Required skills include basic ED skills, stroke and trauma care, splinting, pediatric experience, chest tube management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and central line management
• Charting system: EPIC (required), Alaris, Pyxis, and bedside/nursing station telemonitoring
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH, PALS
• Preferred certifications: ENCP, TNCC, and de-escalation training (MOAB or CPI)
• Floating is rare and will only involve assisting other units with difficult IV sticks; no patient assignments outside of the ED
• Scrub color: any color, professional appearance required
• Free parking available in designated employee areas


Facility:


This medical center is a 101-bed facility operating as a Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center. The emergency department features 24 dedicated beds, 5 overflow IR beds, and 20-plus hallway beds, supporting an average of 90 to 110 patients per day during busy periods. The department is supported around the clock by charge nurses, intake counselors, public safety personnel, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, house supervisors, a surge call team, and a trained forensic team. Additional weekday support includes an ED case manager and physical therapy services.
