SUPERVISION RECEIVEDAND EXERCISED Receivesgeneralsupervisionfromassignedsupervisoryandmanagementstaff. Exercisesnodirect supervisionoverstaff. CLASS CHARACTERISTICS Thisisthefullyqualifiedjourney-levelclassificationresponsibleforperformingthefullrangeoftransit vehicleoperationanddriving,customerserviceandsafetyrelatedtasks.Incumbentsareexpectedto workindependentlyandexercisejudgmentandinitiativewithinestablishedguidelines.Positionsatthis levelreceiveonlyoccasionalinstructionorassistanceasneworunusualsituationsariseandarefully aware ofthe operatingprocedures andpoliciesoftheworkunit. ThisclassisdistinguishedfromTransitOperationsSupervisorinthatthelatterservesasthefirstlevel supervisorand assigns, directsand reviews the workofoperationsstaff. Inputspassengerandrouteinformationviacomputerizedtabletand/orpaperroutesheet;checks schedulesandroutes;notesdetoursforroadclosuresorspecialpick-ups;collectsandaccountsfor fares. Maintainscommunicationswith dispatch centerandrespondsto dispatcherassignments as received. Makesprompt,accurateaccidentandincidentreports;providesfirst-aidassistanceasnecessary; contactsdispatchcenter,supervisorand/or emergency services as directed through operational policies and procedures. Compilesdataonpassengersserved;assistsinpreparingandmaintainingavarietyofrecordsand reportsrelatedtoservices provided. Ensuresvehiclesoperatedaremaintainedinacleanandorderlycondition;searchesvehiclefortrashandlostitems,sweepsandcleanbuswindowsasneeded;drivesvehiclesthroughautomatedwashing system. Respondstocustomerinquiryorcomplaintsregardingservice;referstosupervisoras needed. Provides officesupportassistance as assigned. Observes safe workmethods and utilizessafetyequipmentrelated tothe work. MayassistotherTransitOperators with routeorientation. Performs related duties asassigned. LicensesandCertifications: Possessionof,andabilitytomaintain,avalidClassCCaliforniaDriver’sLicenseandasafedriving recordthroughoutemployment. Possessionof,orabilitytoobtainwithinninety(90)daysofappointmenttotheclassification,aClassBCalifornia Driver’s License;and maintenance ofa safe drivingrecordthroughoutemployment. Possessionof,orabilitytoobtainwithinninety(90)daysofappointmenttotheclassification,a VerificationTransitTraining(VTT)certification withpassengerendorsement. Positions in this classification bend, stoop, kneel, reach, andclimbtoperformworkandinspectworkvehicles.Employeesmustpossesstheabilitytolift,carry, push,andpullmaterialsandobjectsweighingupto60pounds,orheavierweightswiththeuseofproper equipment.
