Since our founding in 2000, we've grown into a leading force in debt recovery, providing trusted and comprehensive legal solutions for financial institutions nationwide.Our teams are driven, collaborative, and committed to delivering results.We are seeking a motivated Litigation Assistant to join our Rochester, NY-based team.Position SummaryThe Litigation Assistant works under the direction of the Litigation or Remote Office Manager to assist with the management and supervision of jurisdictional inventory.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:Assist with docket managementPrepare, review and assemble legal documentsCommunicate with courts, opposing counsel, and enforcement officers to obtain status updates and ensure cases are moving through the legal process as expectedSubmit lawsuits to the court for processingGenerate and track judgment documents that have been sent to the courts for entryManage and resolve judgements that have been rejected by the courtsCommunicate with the legal operations department regarding any issues with media, affidavits, and verified pleading procurement.Track and receive affidavits and/ or verified pleadings with associated media for all contested litigation matters.Prepare satisfactions of judgment, dismissal, and lien release documents.Assist with attorney substitution and/or Attorney of record processEnter and post all data into the firm's case management systemMinimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)Minimum of two years of relevant experience working in a legal office or equivalent combination of education and/or experienceParalegal Certification or equivalent combination of education and/or experience preferredProficient with MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)Ability to work with databases and on-line technological platformsAbility to operate basic office equipment such as a copy machine, fax machine, printer, scanner, and computer.Knowledge of legal principles and legal terminologyExcellent interpersonal and analytical skillsAbility to be detail-oriented, diligent, and flexibleAbility to handle conflicting time demands and focus on task completion with little direction or need for supervisory follow-upProficient command of the English language in both oral and written formatAbility to work and maintain patience with diversified individuals of various ethnic backgrounds and professional competenciesAbility to maintain confidentiality in a professional mannerBenefitsEligible for medical, dental, vision, and company paid life insurance on the first of the month following 60 days of employment.401(k) with employer matchPhysical Demands and Work EnvironmentThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
