Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) - Inpatient Rehabilitation for a 13-week contract assignment at Herrin Hospital in Herrin, Illinois.

The Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit provides comprehensive nursing care similar to a medical-surgical floor, with the exception of heparin drips. The unit has a high-neurological patient population , making strong neurological assessment skills and stroke care experience essential.

Key Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive nursing care to inpatient rehabilitation patients.
Perform ongoing assessments, medication administration, and patient monitoring.
Manage patients with complex medical and neurological conditions.
Provide care for a high population of stroke and neurological patients.
Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team.
Monitor patient progress and communicate changes in condition appropriately.
Maintain accurate documentation within the Epic EMR.
Follow hospital policies, safety standards, and evidence-based nursing practices.

Required Qualifications

Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Minimum 2 years of nursing experience .
Inpatient rehabilitation experience strongly preferred.
Stroke certification/competency is required.
Current CPR/BLS certification.
ACLS required.
NIHSS certification/experience preferred or required based on facility requirements.
Strong neurological assessment and patient-care skills.
Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
