Position Overview


We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) - Inpatient Rehabilitation for a 13-week contract assignment at Herrin Hospital in Herrin, Illinois.


The Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit provides comprehensive nursing care similar to a medical-surgical floor, with the exception of heparin drips. The unit has a high-neurological patient population , making strong neurological assessment skills and stroke care experience essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to inpatient rehabilitation patients.
• Perform ongoing assessments, medication administration, and patient monitoring.
• Manage patients with complex medical and neurological conditions.
• Provide care for a high population of stroke and neurological patients.
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team.
• Monitor patient progress and communicate changes in condition appropriately.
• Maintain accurate documentation within the Epic EMR.
• Follow hospital policies, safety standards, and evidence-based nursing practices.

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience .
• Inpatient rehabilitation experience strongly preferred.
• Stroke certification/competency is required.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• ACLS required.
• NIHSS certification/experience preferred or required based on facility requirements.
• Strong neurological assessment and patient-care skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
