Contract | Nights (3x12-Hour Shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Onsite | 13–26 Week Assignment

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical unit with a primary oncology patient population, including administration of chemotherapy, biotherapy (IV, PO, or injection), and management of general medical-surgical diagnoses such as AKI, sepsis, septic shock, malignant neoplasms, encephalopathy, and diabetic foot ulcers
• Perform and manage clinical procedures including central line blood draws, PICC line management, peripheral line care, port access, colostomy care, wound care and wound vac management, surgical drain management, and chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
• Administer blood products, heparin drips, and insulin; provide non-invasive airway management including nasal cannula; maintain isolation precautions as required
• Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC, communicate using SBAR methodology, and utilize PYXIS for medication management
• Float to similar units and alternate inpatient care locations as needed, including inpatient holding in the ED or other medical patient care areas
• Participate in storm, hurricane, mass casualty, and disaster response teams as assigned; attend monthly staff meetings

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an inpatient Medical Surgical setting
• Proficiency in Med/Surg skills including colostomy care, port access, blood product administration, central line blood draw, PICC line management, heparin, insulin, surgical drains, chest tubes, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions
• Ability to administer chemotherapy if needed
• Current BLS certification
• Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending license acceptable for submission)
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification
• Charge nurse experience
• CPI certification
