Strategic Tax Leader for Hedge Fund & Venture Platform

Tax Manager | Hedge Fund & Venture Platform Our client, a highly regarded investment firm with a sophisticated hedge fund and venture fund platform, is seeking a Tax Manager to lead and oversee the tax function across their fund complex. This is a high-visibility role, providing strategic oversight, managing external advisors, and ensuring compliance across multiple funds. What You’ll Do: Lead the preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax workpapers, partner allocations, estimates, and projections Oversee complex tax adjustments, including wash sales, constructive sales, straddles, and PFICs Manage relationships with external tax providers and fund administrators, including K-1 preparation and distribution Supervise the preparation and review of fund, GP, and management company tax returns Ensure timely compliance with tax filings, 1099 reporting, PTE elections, and withholding obligations Provide strategic tax planning and guidance on evolving regulations to senior leadership Mentor and manage junior tax staff, supporting development and performance Research complex technical tax issues and communicate findings clearly to management and investors What We’re Looking For: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (CPA or MST preferred) 5+ years of partnership tax experience, ideally with hedge funds, private equity, or investment management Deep knowledge of Subchapter K, master-feeder structures, and complex financial products Familiarity with ASC 740, PFICs, and book-to-tax adjustments Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills Advanced Excel and systems proficiency, with close attention to detail Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment This role is ideal for a strategic, hands-on tax leader looking to make an impact across a high-profile, growth-oriented fund platform.
