Position Summary

We are partnering with an established and growing organization within the flexible packaging and films industry to identify an experienced Sales / Territory Manager to support revenue growth, new business development, and customer expansion across key regional markets.

This is a fully remote sales opportunity with responsibility for developing business across Illinois, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. The selected individual will combine hands-on territory development and customer relationship management with a disciplined approach to pipeline management, quoting, forecasting, margin performance, and sales execution.

The ideal candidate will bring B2B sales experience within flexible packaging, plastic films, converting, industrial distribution, manufacturing, or a related technical market. This position requires someone who is comfortable prospecting for new business, developing long-term customer relationships, managing complex sales opportunities, and working independently within a remote environment.

The position also requires strong sales-process discipline. The Sales / Territory Manager will be expected to maintain accurate customer and opportunity documentation, actively manage quotes and follow-up activity, monitor sales performance, and collaborate closely with internal operations, purchasing, customer service, finance, and leadership teams.

This opportunity offers significant autonomy, direct customer exposure, commission upside, and the ability to contribute to the continued growth of an established organization serving manufacturing and industrial markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute territory sales strategies aligned with company revenue, growth, and margin objectives.

  • Develop new business opportunities throughout assigned regional markets across Illinois, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.

  • Prospect manufacturers, converters, industrial processors, packaging-related organizations, and other applicable B2B accounts.

  • Build relationships with purchasing professionals, operations leaders, technical stakeholders, business owners, and executive-level decision-makers.

  • Maintain consistent outbound prospecting through phone, email, networking, referrals, industry relationships, and customer visits.

  • Manage the full sales cycle from initial prospecting and qualification through quotation, negotiation, closing, and ongoing account development.

  • Develop territory and account plans designed to increase customer penetration and identify new revenue opportunities.

  • Maintain and expand existing customer relationships while identifying opportunities to increase account value and overall market share.

  • Serve as a primary customer contact for strategic opportunities and complex sales discussions.

  • Maintain consistent follow-up on open quotations, pending orders, and active opportunities.

  • Work to improve quote-to-order conversion through disciplined follow-up and customer engagement.

  • Support competitive pricing and margin objectives while balancing customer requirements and long-term account development.

  • Maintain an organized and active sales pipeline with clear next steps and opportunity status.

  • Provide accurate sales forecasts and regular updates regarding pipeline activity, customer demand, market conditions, and territory performance.

  • Utilize CRM/ERP systems to accurately document customer activity, opportunities, quotations, communications, and sales progress.

  • Monitor key sales indicators including revenue, pipeline health, new customer acquisition, quote conversion, sales-cycle activity, and margin performance.

  • Collaborate with Customer Service, Purchasing, Operations, Finance, and leadership to ensure customer requirements are effectively communicated and supported.

  • Share relevant customer and market information internally to assist with inventory planning, sourcing, service levels, and broader business decisions.

  • Maintain awareness of market trends, competitive activity, customer demand, and developing opportunities within flexible packaging, films, and related industrial markets.

  • Represent the organization professionally during customer visits, networking activities, trade shows, and industry events as required.

  • Support structured follow-up of leads generated through trade shows, marketing efforts, referrals, and other business-development activities.

  • Maintain consistent communication with sales leadership regarding territory activity, performance, priorities, and developing opportunities.

Sales Leadership & Accountability

  • Contribute to annual and quarterly sales planning and territory-development strategies.

  • Establish measurable account-development and business-growth objectives within the assigned markets.

  • Maintain accountability for sales activity, pipeline development, quote follow-up, customer communication, and revenue performance.

  • Use sales data and reporting to identify trends, opportunities, and areas requiring additional attention.

  • Support sales-process consistency and disciplined CRM/ERP usage.

  • Depending on experience and organizational needs, contribute to the coaching, onboarding, or development of other sales personnel.

  • Partner with leadership on strategic accounts, complex negotiations, market-development initiatives, and broader sales-growth opportunities.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 5+ years of B2B sales experience preferred.

  • Sales leadership, mentoring, or team-development experience strongly preferred.

  • Experience within flexible packaging, plastic films, converting, industrial distribution, plastics, manufacturing, or another related B2B industrial market preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to prospect for and develop new customer relationships.

  • Experience managing and growing established customer accounts.

  • Strong understanding of territory management, pipeline development, forecasting, and sales-process organization.

  • Experience managing quotations and maintaining disciplined follow-up throughout the sales cycle.

  • Ability to understand customer requirements and communicate appropriate product or service solutions.

  • Strong relationship-building, communication, presentation, negotiation, and closing skills.

  • Ability to interact effectively with purchasing, operations, technical, financial, and executive-level stakeholders.

  • Experience using CRM and/or ERP systems to document and manage sales activity.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand sales performance, account activity, margins, and pipeline metrics.

  • Self-directed and comfortable managing multiple priorities within a fully remote environment.

  • Strong accountability and organizational skills.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively across Sales, Customer Service, Purchasing, Operations, Finance, and leadership functions.

  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout assigned markets for customer meetings and business-development activities as needed.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • Flexible packaging or plastic film sales experience.

  • Experience selling materials, products, or services to manufacturers, converters, processors, or industrial customers.

  • Knowledge of film converting, packaging applications, or related manufacturing processes.

  • Experience developing business within regional or multi-state sales territories.

  • Existing relationships within packaging, plastics, films, converting, or related industrial markets.

  • Experience working with margin-driven sales models.

  • Experience monitoring quote-to-order conversion and managing structured quotation follow-up.

  • Experience with ERP-based sales documentation and reporting systems.

  • Previous experience participating in trade shows, industry associations, or regional business-development events.
