Senior Roadway Project Manager | Civil Engineer

Job Description Overview We are seeking an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Denver, CO team as a Colorado Roads & Highways Project Manager. In this role you will apply technical expertise and project management experience to manage roadway design teams on a variety of transportation projects, perform production coordination, planning, organizing, directing, controlling, marketing assistance, and financial management. You will function as a mentor to assist others in their training and development, and be responsible for project delivery across multiple Business Units and clients, including Colorado Department of Transportation, City & County of Denver, City of Longmont, Boulder County, and City of Aurora. Your role As a Roadway Project Manager Execute procured transportation projects by leading engineering design, coordinating with design staff, client interactions, and project management tasks. Schedule and coordinate project meetings with the project team, regulatory agencies, the client, and other stakeholders. Manage project production by tracking manhours, costs, and expenses, and communicate project progress/status to senior management. Identify new roadway and highway business opportunities, coordinate and participate in project presentations to clients and external groups, and promote the firm’s capabilities. Participate in project opportunity evaluation, consultant selection, and preparation of the firm’s qualification/experience statements. Coordinate and participate in contract negotiations with clients and subcontractors, drafting complex professional service agreements and addenda for senior management review. Direct the project team and ensure client compliance with contract terms, monitoring subcontractors’ compliance with contractual commitments. Prepare project work plans, scope, schedule, and budget, and communicate these to the team; monitor and manage project production for compliance with schedule, budget, and quality objectives. As a Roadway Engineer/Task Lead Apply standard engineering practices and techniques in specific situations which may include the following: Assist in planning, design, and production of engineering drawings; may supervise the production of these drawings; carry out specific assignments in preparing and assembling specifications. Participate in conducting engineering investigations and planning work by completing/delegating well‑defined tasks, including data collection, analysis, routine calculations, and evaluating feasibility of alternate solutions. Participate on construction projects by reviewing shop drawings, assisting in record‑keeping, generating progress reports, observing construction procedures, and collecting samples for quality control testing. Perform data acquisition and analysis, researching feasibility of alternate design approaches, site conditions, or regulatory agency specifications or regulations. Prepare materials for reports and permit applications, gather information, write rough outlines, and prepare work progression documents and graphic presentations. Perform and facilitate engineering calculations. About you B.S., M.S. in Civil Engineering. 8+ years of engineering experience. PE required in Colorado or ability to obtain PE in Colorado within 6 months of hire. Project Management experience is preferred. Excellent technical and interpersonal skills. Strong project financial management and team management skills. CDOT and local road experience required. Familiarity with OpenRoadsDesigner and/or AutoCAD Civil3D. Additional information Expected compensation range: $120,000 – $160,000 annually, depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
