For current vacancies by location, please click here ROLE SUMMARY The Special Education Instructional Aide provides targeted instructional support and specialized services to scholars with disabilities, primarily through consistent implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in inclusive settings. Working under the direct supervision of the Principal, Special Education Coordinator, and/or credentialed Special Education Teacher, the Aide delivers tiered interventions across general education, resource specialist, and specialized environments to promote scholar access to the core curriculum, foster independence, and ensure participation in the school community. - Support scholar learning, individually or in groups, by following lesson plans and designated IEPs or 504 Plans, in a variety of academic subjects, to explain and/or reinforce learning concepts presented by the Teacher.
- Confer with Teachers regularly to assist in evaluating scholar progress and/or monitoring progress toward IEP goals and objectives.
- Monitor and assist in the remediation of specific learning challenges and scholars with disabilities.
- Prepare, adapt, and organize instructional materials/manipulatives to promote the specialized learning process for scholars with disabilities.
- Assist scholars with operating assistive technology or communication devices, microcomputers, and in learning activities associated with computer-assisted instruction.
- Provide a variety of clerical and housekeeping support, including administering and scoring scholar assessments, and collecting, distributing, and inventorying classroom supplies, equipment, textbooks, and materials.
- Motivate and encourage positive learning patterns and behavior for scholars with disabilities and special learning needs.
- Support scholar behavior management consistent with school policies and individualized behavior plans.
- Attend parent-teacher conferences and IEP meetings as requested by teachers or administrators.
- Attend training related to disabilities about best practices to assist scholars.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.

- Relationship-Building : Have strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills with both children and adults.
- A high school diploma or the equivalent.
- Two years of college (48 semester units),
or an Associate's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university,
or passing score on the CBEST (California Basic Educational Skills Test).
- Willingness to complete specialized training related to specific disabilities/conditions, as well as mandatory training with Los Angeles Unified School District.
