Head Girls Basketball Coach $8,000-$12,000 Stipend Bishop Alemany High School (Mission Hills) Expires 08/01/2026 Description Description of Position & Primary Duties: The Head Girls Basketball Coach will work under the supervision of the Athletic Director in accordance with Bishop Alemany High School’s mission. The Head Girls Basketball Coach must realize and appreciate the need for the girls’ basketball program to work with other sports as a complement to the entire athletic department. Essential Job Functions: Provide instruction and coach students to develop skills and the ability to excel in basketball. Contribute to the educational program as a whole and to the growth of students involved in athletics so that they are successfully competitive. Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student-athletes in basketball. Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship. Work with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student-athletes. Ensures that all girls’ basketball coaches work together toward a common goal within the girls’ basketball program and provide unity with a structured feeder system. Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate student’s athletic abilities initially and on a regular basis. Take all necessary precautions to protect student-athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities. Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extra-curricular participation. Work with the Athletic Director to schedule competitions and coordinate arrangements. Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of coaching program, which includes but is not limited to: making changes based on findings and the ongoing needs of the program. Requirements Requirements and Qualifications: All applicants must have a current resume with a fully completed application A minimum of three years of experience as a varsity basketball coach preferred Strong foundation in coaching techniques and safety protocols with the ability to teach students of variety skill levels Experience in designing and implementing engaging and effective sports programs for youth Strong communication skills to interact effectively with students, parents and staff members Commitment to promoting a safe and supportive environment for all participants. Ability to foster a positive inclusive and motivating environment for students to learn and grow A teaching position may be available in conjunction with this coaching assignment, contingent upon the needs of the school. The selected candidate must pass an employment background check and all required training and certifications. Compensation for this position is based on policy and budget. We consider a number of factors including, but not limited to, skills set, experience, training and department needs. Wage Range The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range.
