Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Med/Surg (Renal) position requiring GA or compact license and at least 1 year of experience, with first-time travelers welcome.

Details

• Work on a Renal Med/Surg unit within a hospital setting
• Care for an adult to geriatric patient population
• Unit has 49 rooms with an average daily census of 48
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Uses Epic EMR (required), Pyxis, and SBAR communication
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required unless otherwise specified
• Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
• No on-call requirements
• 14-week assignment length

Requirements

• Active RN license (GA or Compact) required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Prior experience with patient ratio of 1:6 preferred
• Epic charting system experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skills in respiratory care preferred, including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management, high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy preferred, including central line blood draws, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Skills in renal/genitourinary care preferred, including pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
• Skills in wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE preferred
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and rapid response/code teams preferred
• Skills in medication administration preferred, including heparin, insulin, and PCA management
• Skills in gastrointestinal care preferred, including colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube management

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a busy Renal Med/Surg unit
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
• Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment period (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day)
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Previous perm, per diem, or FCSS employees must be away from all facilities within the health system for one full year before applying as a traveler
• Returning travelers who canceled or were not approved to return must complete one assignment outside the health system before reapplying
