Job Description Department: Plant Reports To: General Foreman Compensation Range: $26/hour Position Summary The Traffic Control Technician (TCT) is responsible for establishing and maintaining safe work zones to protect workers, motorists, and pedestrians. This role involves setting up cones, signage, and safety barriers to direct traffic safely around construction or utility work areas. TCTs must remain constantly aware of surrounding traffic and construction activities while ensuring compliance with all safety regulations. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position (40 hours per week), non-exempt/hourly. Overtime may be required based on operational needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Set up, maintain, and remove work zones including warning signs, traffic cones, and rumble strips in accordance with ATSSA and DOT regulations. Load and unload traffic control equipment to and from company vehicles. Drive company vehicles safely to and from job sites. Complete all required documentation and paperwork in a timely manner. Maintain company vehicles in a clean and orderly condition and report any safety concerns or mechanical issues to management. Perform additional duties as assigned to support the day-to-day operations of the department. Competency Valid California Driver’s License with a clean DMV record required . Must pass a criminal background check prior to employment and maintain eligibility throughout employment. Successful completion of all Sonic safety and job-duty training. Successful completion of the OSHA 10-Hour Construction Course. Must maintain reliable transportation. Must obtain certification in basic traffic safety techniques through training provided by Sonic. Ability to work in all weather conditions and stand for extended periods of time Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
