Program Manager, Environmental Public Health Tracking Job Location: Address: 150 N 18th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85007 Posting Details Salary: $82,500 Grade: 24 *Hybrid* Job Summary This position will oversee the Environmental Public Health Tracking program within the Office of Environmental Epidemiology and is responsible for overall management and supervision of the program and any assigned personnel. This position performs supervisory and advanced professional analytical work related to environmental public health tracking, data analysis, reporting, visualization, and dissemination. Supervises and directs the work activities of subordinate staff involved in environmental public health tracking activities, including the acquisition and integration of environmental and public health data from multiple sources. Reviews and conducts literature reviews and data analyses to support program activities and public health practices. Provide training and technical support to program staff and data users as needed. Reviews work products or achievements of subordinate workers; evaluates work and formulates plans for improvements. Oversees implementation of program procedures, data management practices, and operational activities to support the program activities. Collaborates with the GIS and IT teams to support tracking activities. Collaborates with communities, partners, and stakeholders to support the use and understanding of environmental public health data and tracking resources. Participates in after-hours activities, including partner meetings and emergency response as needed. Participates in writing grants, other funding proposals, and grant reports. Job Duties Oversee, manage, and supervise the work of epidemiologists and associated staff conducting Environmental Public Health Tracking activities. Plans, assigns, schedules, prioritizes, directs, and coordinates the work of assigned epidemiologists and other staff. Leads and manages the Environmental Public Health Tracking Program, including program planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement activities. Oversees the acquisitions and integration of environmental and public health data from multiple sources to support program activities and inform public health practice. Oversees implementation of program procedures, data management practices, and operational activities. Collaborates with GIS and IT teams to support tracking activities, data resources, and program needs. Provides training, guidance, and technical support to program staff and data users. Collaborates with communities, partners, and stakeholders to support the use and understanding of environmental public health data and tracking resources. Participates in after-hours activities, including partner meetings and emergency response as needed. Participates in writing grants, other funding proposals, and grant reports. Other duties as assigned as related to the position. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs): Knowledge Of: Considerable independent judgment and advanced knowledge of applied epidemiology for public health practice. Managerial techniques and personnel policies and procedures. Contemporary principles and practices of epidemiology. Principles and practices applicable to the control and prevention of diseases. Methods, procedures and techniques used in developing, implementing, and maintaining disease surveillance and control programs. Contemporary medical methods and practices used in the control of a variety of diseases. Program planning and fiscal monitoring practices and procedures. Performance Management (PM), and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and Lean methodologies. Skills In Working management and work leadership. Oral and written communication. Interpersonal relations, as applied to contracts with representatives of other governmental and private organizations, physicians, and the public. Conducting scientific studies and investigations required to identify and isolate various diseases. Supervision, program planning and administration, contract/budget monitoring, and grant writing. Public health surveillance, computerized database management, data analysis, program evaluation, literature search, effective verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills. Selective Preference(s) Masters of public health in Epidemiology and two years of professional experience in public health agency. One year of management/supervisory duties. Ideal candidate will have experience using statistical software (e.g. SAS programming), working with the different levels of US health care system and public health system, and working with electronic public health surveillance databases.
