Log Yard Utility Person

DescriptionWeyerhaeuser’s log yard facility in Cottageville, South Carolina has an opening for a Utility Person. This position will serve as a member of the flow-to-work log yard team, conducting various production and clean up tasks and contributing to a safe and efficient working environment.This is a full-time hourly day shift position reporting to the Export Yard Manager. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401k plans, vacation, and holidays.Key Functions:Committed to working safely and adhering to log yard safety proceduresPerform miscellaneous clean-up and general housekeeping activities as requiredUse pressure washer and other equipment to prepare logs for inspection and keep rolling stock cleanSafely and competently operate a pickup truck, golf cart, and compact agricultural tractorOver time be trained in the safe and competent operation of the yard truck, front-end loader, and knuckle boomPerform daily equipment inspections and complete preventive maintenance proceduresCollaborate with team members, as well as work independentlyContribute positively within a highly efficient and safe work teamAttach any required paperwork and/or painting to log loadsMaintain inventory of stock materialAdapt to job assignments changes and flow to work as neededPerform overtime duties when needed to meet customer demandsPrioritize work schedule and work under pressureVisually and physically check loads of logs for specification accuracyQualificationsA High School diploma or GEDOne to two years’ experience working in an industrial settingValid driver’s licenseDemonstrated adherence to safety practicesSolid work history, including work in an industrial environmentStrong communication and listening skillsComplete a pre-employment drug screen and background checkPreferred:Experience operating a skid steer, water truck, ag equipmentKnowledge of raw materials/log yardsAbout TimberlandsWe believe trees are a remarkable resource that can and should be managed responsibly to make a range of products that meet human needs, while also providing recreation, wildlife habitat, and other important ecosystem benefits.For more than a century, we've been taking care of forests to make life better.About WeyerhaeuserWe sustainably manage forests and manufacture products that make the world a better place.
