Assistant Manager - Store

Position Overview The Assistant Manager is responsible for the execution of all operational, merchandising and managerial functions that occur within the store during their assigned shift. In the absence of the Store Manager, the Assistant Manager will serve as the manager‑on‑duty charged with all daily operational responsibilities and supervision of Sales Associates for the store to which they are assigned. Major Responsibilities and Essential Functions Drive sales to achieve and exceed the financial plan. Assist the Store Manager in evaluating the business and taking proactive steps to improve results. Set and monitor store goals (individual, daily, weekly). Manage store expenses. Ensure all funds and merchandise are handled according to Company policy and procedure. Maintain final report accountability for store operations, associate development and financial contribution. Schedule a minimum of one grassroots event per quarter. Effectively manage merchandise and marketing initiatives, including social media to drive traffic, recruitment and sales. Develop relationships with community, churches and retailers. Provide an exceptional customer service experience to all customers. Zone the store for optimum sales and customer experience. Serve as a product knowledge expert and hold all Associates accountable for product knowledge. Model Company values and enforce them with Associates. Develop staff to ensure exceptional customer service through training and coaching. Partner with the Store Manager in all store matters and maintain high standards per policy and procedures. Create and revise store schedules in alignment with selling expenses and productivity. Ensure neatness, maintenance and cleanliness of the store. Execute merchandise displays and visuals to enhance the brand. Place supply orders and monitor inventory levels. Communicate with the Store Manager and District Manager on issues. Recruit, train, coach staff and conduct regular communications (e.g., Take 5’s). Manage time effectively for self and associates. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. 2–3 years prior retail experience; 1 year prior supervisory experience preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to apply retail math principles. Excellent computer skills and experience using a POS system. High level of initiative and accountability. Proven ability to prioritize multiple initiatives. Detail oriented and consistently meets deadlines. Essential Work Requirements Ability to lift 30 lbs, frequently pushing, pulling, bending and stretching. Stand for periods of 8–10 hours a day. Use ladders or other equipment for store and merchandising maintenance. Work a flexible schedule to include some holidays, most weekends and/or late evenings. Minimal travel (e.g., district meetings, banking duties). Daily interaction across all divisions/levels.
