Location: Ann Arbor, MI 48109 (Onsite) Duration: 9 Months Contract Visa Requirement: USC/GC Experience Required: 10+ Years
Role Overview
We are seeking a Technical Lead – Atlassian Tools Administrator with strong expertise in Jira administration and Atlassian ecosystem tools. The ideal candidate will lead administration, optimization, and migration initiatives, including Data Center migration from on-premise environments to Azure Cloud. This is a hands-on, onsite role requiring strong ownership, independence, and the ability to work with minimal knowledge transfer (KT).
Key Responsibilities
- Atlassian Administration & Support
- Administer and maintain Atlassian suite of tools, including Jira (Software / Service Management), Confluence, Bitbucket, Zephyr, Atlassian Guard and other add-ons
- Manage user access, permissions, workflows, and configurations
- Customize projects, issue types, screens, dashboards, and reports
- Ensure system performance, availability, and security
- Migration & Cloud Transformation
- Lead Data Center migration from on-premise to Azure Cloud
- Plan and execute migration strategies, data transfer, and validation
- Ensure minimal downtime and data integrity during migration
- Optimize Atlassian tools for cloud performance and scalability
- Integration & Automation
- Configure and maintain tool integrations with enterprise systems
- Support CI/CD integrations (e.g., Bitbucket pipelines)
- Implement automation rules, scripts, and workflow enhancements
- Troubleshoot integration and performance issues
- Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with development, DevOps, and business teams
- Gather requirements and translate them into technical configurations
- Provide training, guidance, and best practices to users
- Leadership & Ownership
- Act as the primary point of contact for Atlassian platform
- Work independently with minimal or no KT
- Drive continuous improvements and platform optimization
- Ensure adherence to governance and best practices
Mandatory Skills
- Strong hands-on experience in Jira Administration
- Expertise in Atlassian suite: Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Zephyr, Atlassian Guard (or similar security tools)
- Experience with Atlassian Data Center environments
- Proven experience in migration from On-Prem to Azure Cloud
- Strong understanding of user management & permissions, workflow customization, system configurations
- Ability to work independently without KT
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Jira Service Management (JSM)
- Knowledge of scripting tools (ScriptRunner, Groovy, etc.)
