A day in this role

You begin by preparing the CNC laser, verifying the job setup, and confirming that the work area is safe and organized. Throughout the day, you run primarily (but not exclusively) CNC laser cutting operations, switching between tasks as needed. You check part quality with micrometers, calipers, and gauges, make routine machine adjustments, and keep equipment clean and lubricated. You accurately record quantities produced, scrap, and time worked, consistently use all applicable safety equipment, and maintain a tidy workstation. When needed, you assist with loading sheets of material onto the laser table—lifts are provided if required. You wrap up by logging final counts and completing other duties as directed.

Core responsibilities

• Perform a variety of operations using primarily, but not exclusively, CNC laser cutting machinery.
• Use hand tools, micrometers, calipers, and a variety of gauges to verify quality.
• Clean and lubricate machinery; perform routine setups and make adjustments.
• Accurately record quantities produced, scrap, and time worked; always use applicable safety equipment and keep the immediate work area clean.
• Perform other duties as directed.

Physical requirements

• May be required to occasionally lift sheets of material onto the laser table; lifts will be provided in the event they are required.
