Registered Nurse - Med/Surg

Located in a serene area surrounded by oak trees, this facility has been serving the community since 1977. Comprised of a 122-bed acute care facility, the team provides exceptional care in various medical, surgical, and outpatient services. Local attractions include weekly farmers markets, farm-to-fork dining, beautiful landscapes for outdoor activities, and beach access.

Orients to the planning, coordination, and provision of nursing care to patients on the medical/surgical unit. This position will focus on the care of age-related physiological, emotional, and cognitive needs for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Responsibilities include care planning, vital signs monitoring, medication administration, and addressing physiological and psychosocial needs. The role includes supervising and delegating care responsibilities to ancillary personnel according to their scope of practice.

Education and Work Experience: - Associate Degree (A.S.) or equivalent required. - Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. Licenses/Certifications: - Current RN license in state of practice required. - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor required.

Essential Functions: Provides appropriate nursing interventions in stable and emergent patient situations. Is competent in routine nursing skills including medication administration and intravenous therapy. Cares for indwelling catheters and drains, and safely uses medical equipment commonly utilized in medical/surgical settings. Addresses age-related physiological, emotional, and cognitive needs of patients, including those with disabilities. Initiates a multidisciplinary, goal-oriented care plan for each patient in collaboration with the healthcare team. Educates patients and their families regarding care, using appropriate teaching methods. Delegates patient care tasks to ancillary personnel based on individual competency. Evaluates the effectiveness of care provided and documents all nursing care accurately and timely. Performs unit-specific safety and quality control checks consistently. Identifies opportunities to improve care and services within the unit. Utilizes downtime efficiently for job-related tasks and training. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
