Laser Programmer

: Description:

Responsible for programming, troubleshooting, quality checks and calculation of run rates for tube laser cutting machines, ensuring precise and efficient production of parts according to technical specifications.

Duties for this position include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Interpret and understand engineering drawings, technical specifications, and models to create accurate cutting programs.
• Reads work order and create and modify programs for tube laser cutting equipment to cut parts based on design specifications and CAD models.
• Operate tube laser ensuring the correct setup, calibration and troubleshooting during production.
• Perform quality checks on parts to ensure compliance with customer specifications, including material thickness, dimensions, and overall part quality.
• Performs visual inspection of all material for nonconforming conditions, i.e., scratches marks, burrs, weld splits, roll marks, forklift damage, rust, dents, end cut conditions, missing holes or slots, or any other physical defects
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of the tube laser machines to minimize downtime and improve machine performance.
• Calculate run rates for optimization of productivity and efficiency.
• Ability to recognize, recommend and implement changes to production processes.
• Maintain production records.
• Knowledge of customer products and their applications.
• Be a team player by helping all members of the laser department when needed.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Previous experience programming and operating tube laser cutting machines (minimum of 3 years preferred).
• Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar programs is a plus.
