You will provide complex educational activities and services to state hospital employees, serve as a subject matter expert on provision of services to clients, and incorporate a perspective into developing, planning, organizing, conducting, and evaluating educational and training programs. You will also track and ensure accuracy of hospital curriculum and ensure employees are effectively trained in the core and specialty competencies required for their position. Responsibilities Provide complex (journey-level) educational activities and services to state hospital employees. Serve as subject matter expert for client services and educational offerings. Develop, plan, organize, conduct, and evaluate educational and training programs, including pre‑service training, annual refresher training, and on‑the‑job training. Track and ensure accuracy of hospital curriculum and training records. Use training software and Systems (PeopleSoft TIMS) to maintain and provide employee training records and report training compliance. Maintain survey readiness for the department and ensure compliance with 95% training completion. Assist in disaster response and continuity of operations (COOP) activation when required. Perform other duties as assigned, including supporting the department’s needs and covering positions as needed. Essential Job Functions (EJFs) Attend work on a regular basis and work a specified or rotating schedule, extended shift, or overtime as per agency leave policy. Conduct training and maintain a positive learning environment that encourages employee participation and achievement of staff competency. Teach core mandatory classes and local trainings (CPR, TIPS, annual refresher, core classes as mandated by state office, etc.) to new and existing employees. Ensure training rosters are entered into PeopleSoft and track training compliance of all hospital employees. Run monthly mandatory/delinquent listings, reconcile with spreadsheets, and send training reminders to ensure compliance. Serve as the FCTD curriculum coordinator and subject matter expert, updating curriculum as policies change and ensuring content meets current Texas Administrative Code, The Joint Commission, and CMS standards. Monitor and document participant actions and behaviors during training to ensure compliance with policies and guidelines. Maintain necessary certifications to teach assigned courses (CPR, TIPS, Van Driver Training). Organize and reconcile employee training records, maintain training files, and ensure department is survey ready. Demonstrate organizational skills, accuracy, and effective use of PeopleSoft TIMS for training tracking. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Ability to enter and track large amounts of data and utilize databases. Ability to work in a team environment and interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds and educational levels. Ability to work with individuals with mental illnesses preferred. Registrations, Licensure Requirements or Certifications Position must obtain certification in CPR, TIPS and PiCert within six (6) months of hire date. Initial Screening Criteria Bachelor's Degree required. Two years in teaching professionally may substitute for degree. Teaching in adult education preferred. Two years of experience working in mental health field preferred. Additional Information Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre‑employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aid, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct, List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Flexibility in work hours may be required; overtime and/or extended hours may be required.
