Fire Sprinkler Design Manager (Licensed P.E.)
Columbia Fire | Seattle, WA
$120,000–$150,000 base + approximately $15,000 annual bonus target

Columbia Fire is looking for a licensed Professional Engineer with hands-on fire sprinkler design experience to lead and develop our Seattle design team. This is a working leadership role: you’ll guide designers, set technical standards, review complex work, and remain involved in design yourself.

You’ll also help developing engineers gain the supervised experience needed to pursue P.E. licensure.

What you’ll do

• Lead, coach, and develop sprinkler designers.
• Review drawings, hydraulic calculations, and design packages for code compliance and constructability.
• Manage design quality, workload, and deadlines.
• Work with project managers and field teams to improve how designs translate into installation.
• Take on complex design challenges alongside the team.

What we’re looking for

• An active Professional Engineer license is required.
• Substantial hands-on fire sprinkler design experience, including shop drawings and hydraulic calculations.
• Experience leading or mentoring designers or engineers.
• Strong knowledge of sprinkler systems, applicable NFPA standards, and design software such as AutoSprink.
• Experience preparing or reviewing packages for AHJ submission.

This role is based in the Greater Seattle area so the manager can work directly with the team and spend time in the field. Relocation assistance may be considered for the right candidate. Columbia Fire may also consider an exceptional candidate who can travel regularly to Seattle and maintain a strong in-person presence.
