They provide early detection of physical problems and health evaluations. Responsible for disease prevention. The School Nurse will assist in promoting programs on health education and immunization.Responsibilities:Student & Staff Health CareProvide first aid care and health assessment for students or staffSupport staff when waiting for 911Perform essential nursing procedures such as bolus feeds, catheter care, and similar short-duration tasks requiring clinical expertise.Responsible for skilled nursing care for all students in the building, including bolus feeds, catheters, etc., when the IEP team has determined a 1:1 is not appropriateWrite IHPs and coordinate the care of students with chronic or acute health conditions (Seizure, DM, sickle cell, asthma, food allergies)Administer medications and monitor designated staff medication administrationEmergency meds, daily meds, DM, seizure etc.Participate in 504's, ETRs, and IEPs for students who require nursing careCommunicable disease monitoringPerform other duties as assigned; such as but not limited to, providing back-up medical assistance for students when needed; working with other students in the classroom as appropriate; assisting with assessments, entering and maintaining immunization records and vision and hearing screeningSupervision & CollaborationSupervise any LPNs working in the school/buildingCommunicate with teachers and staff to ensure the safety and well-being of studentsCollaboration with Audio, SLP on hearing screeningsHealth Education & Program SupportSupport return demonstrations for Safe Schools trainingHealth educationAssist families in accessing health insurance and health care servicesScreenings & DocumentationCoordinate and assist with state-mandated screenings (May include vision, hearing, BMI, immunizations required for school attendance screenings)Complete daily student encounters/documentationTechnology & CommunicationMonitor daily work email and maintain requested records of service managed by CPSAdditional assignments or requests for information must be provided to CPS within forty-eight (48) hours, either by phone or emailShould a school close on any regularly assigned school day, nursing personnel will maintain remote services under the guidance of the school principal and the district School Health ManagerQualifications:Valid Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of OhioBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)Pupil Services Registration (5-Year) or the ability to applyAbility to pass an FBI and BCI background checkCPR and First Aid certification required.Knowledge of state and federal health regulations related to school health services.Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.Salary and Benefits:Contract Type: 191 Days Limited Contract - per the Cincinnati Federation of Teachers (CFT) agreementWork Schedule: School Year Only - Full-timeBenefits: Benefits Package IncludedApplication Procedure:Certain jobs at Cincinnati Public Schools may include essential job functions that require specific physical and/or mental abilities.
