Job Title: Parts Breakdown Associate Job Description
The Parts Breakdown Associate plays a key role in warehouse operations by removing cut parts from large sheets of steel, aluminum, and other metals, and supporting a variety of material handling and shipping activities. This is a highly repetitive, hands-on role that requires standing in place for extended periods and working safely around industrial equipment. When not breaking down parts, you support general warehouse tasks such as moving inventory, pulling orders, loading and unloading materials, and maintaining a clean, organized work area.
Responsibilities- Remove cut parts from large sheets of steel, aluminum, and other metals accurately and efficiently.
- Complete basic, routine tasks by following detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Move inventory and equipment throughout the warehouse, including pulling material from racks and staging it for production or shipment.
- Fill customer orders by pulling and assembling materials based on work orders, shipping orders, or other documentation.
- Receive incoming materials, place or return items into designated stock inventory locations, and ensure proper organization.
- Tag material for proper identification and complete all required documentation accurately.
- Transport material from receiving or production areas to storage or other designated locations using forklifts, side loaders, or cranes, once certified.
- Operate a yard truck to load and unload trailers in accordance with safety procedures.
- Sort and place material on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequences such as size, type, or product code.
- Perform spot checks on inventory and complete daily or ad hoc checks to confirm proper tagging and identification of material as directed.
- Restock material to ensure adequate inventory levels and support continuous operations.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area, following established housekeeping and safety practices.
- Report any irregularities, equipment issues, or inventory discrepancies to a supervisor for direction.
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities, including loading and unloading trucks and customer vehicles.
- Occasionally drive a non-DOT motor vehicle for local deliveries and parts pick-ups, as needed.
- Adhere to and help ensure compliance with all applicable safety and quality standards and company policies.
- Support general production, assembly, packaging, and material handling tasks throughout the warehouse as assigned.
- Perform all other duties and responsibilities assigned by management to support warehouse and production operations.
- 05 years of relevant warehouse, material handling, production, or general labor experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid drivers license required.
- Ability to obtain certification to operate forklifts, side loaders, cranes, yard trucks, and other motorized material handling and rigging equipment.
- Technical aptitude with basic knowledge of mechanics.
- Working knowledge of electromechanical systems, troubleshooting, and equipment repair.
- Adequate manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limbed coordination to safely handle materials and operate equipment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks with consistent attention to detail.
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and apply them to work situations.
- Basic measurement skills, including taking, converting, and using measurements of length, width, height, and weight to perform math computations correctly.
- Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions accurately.
- Basic computer proficiency and working knowledge of common software applications used in warehouse or production environments.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize work, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced setting.
- Ability to make sound decisions based on knowledge, experience, and judgment.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, internal customers, and vendors.
- Comfort with fluctuating overtime, including coming in early and working some weekends as needed.
- Commitment to following safety and quality standards at all times.
- Trade school certification in electrical, HVAC, and/or plumbing preferred.
- Experience with forklift operation, material handling, and warehouse equipment.
- Background in general production, assembly, construction, or machine operation.
- Experience with order picking, packing, shipping and receiving, loading, unloading, and packaging.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Strong attention to detail when tagging, sorting, and organizing materials.
- Willingness to learn new equipment and processes and to take on varied tasks throughout the warehouse.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a non-climate-controlled warehouse facility where you work around steel, aluminum, and other metals, as well as forklifts, side loaders, cranes, and yard trucks. You primarily stand for extended periods and perform repetitive manual tasks, combined with general material handling, loading, and unloading activities. The schedule offers two shifts: first shift runs Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and second shift runs Monday through Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with overtime that may include early start times and weekend work depending on operational needs. The environment emphasizes safety, housekeeping, and teamwork, and employees must wear jeans or work pants; shorts, sweats, and leggings are not permitted. All required PPE is provided, supporting a safe and professional industrial work setting.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, KS.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $16.00 - $20.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
