Job Description This position is hybrid/onsite. Requires 2 days onsite a week. Location: 150 E 42nd Street, New York, NY. The Data Science Analyst III is a senior role that collaborates with stakeholders across the organization to develop sophisticated analytics, tools, and BI solutions for strategic planning and decision‑making. The analyst demonstrates advanced understanding of the healthcare domain, technical data manipulation, and analytic development, impacting the patient community of the Mount Sinai Health System. The role mentors other data science team members and leads project initiatives, primarily supporting the Clinical Command Center by generating centralized, actionable intelligence to enhance Health System operations. Qualifications BA or BS degree minimum in a relevant field; Master’s degree preferred. 7 years minimum (higher preferred) in analytics development, preferably in healthcare; experience with EMR systems such as Epic/Clarity, aCW, etc.; payor claims systems such as Facets, Amisys, etc.; or hospital/provider systems such as IDX, Soarian, etc. Experience in a health plan or consulting actuarial, financial reporting or medical economics departments highly valuable. Experience as a nurse informaticist highly valuable. Experience in healthcare provider analytics related to revenue modeling, managed care contracting, population management, case management, or clinical/financial decision reporting. PhD, MD or DO program may be substituted for three years of experience. General Skills and Competencies Assurance of compliance with regulatory, insurance and ethical standards; identification of contingency plans for potential risks. Strong data mining skills using SQL, R, Python, SAS, Java/MapReduce, Aster, etc. Experience in JavaScript/TypeScript strongly preferred. Exposure to Palantir Foundry platform preferred. Prior Agile team experience a plus. Strong analytical skills for complex analysis and recommendation based on statistical inferences. Proficiency with Business Intelligence products such as Tableau, Information Builders, Dimensional Insights, SAP/Business Objects, SAS, MicroStrategy, etc. General knowledge of ETL tools like SSIS, Data Stage, PowerCenter, etc. Advanced analytical, financial and technical skills for complex analysis, data modeling, report writing and data management. Critical thinking, logical reasoning, and understanding of healthcare data relationships. Creative problem solving and strong oral and written communication. Ability to set goals, plan, implement processes, and meet deadlines. Advanced interpersonal skills (mediating, mentoring, teaching) to service internal and external clients. Responsibilities Analyze data requests using technology, enrollment, claims, pharmacy, clinical, contract, medical management, financial, administrative and other corporate data from internal and external sources. Works with departmental staff to identify reporting and business‑intelligence requirements. Identifies necessary data, sources and methodologies. Collects, organizes, integrates, analyzes and interprets data. Applies advanced statistical analysis to create insights and recommendations. Identifies and addresses data complexities, improves data quality, and feeds issues back to IT or stewards. Develops and presents tools, reports, analyses and findings to senior management as requested. Responsible for stakeholder groups: Clinical Command Center – supports tools and analyses for patient throughput, clinical staffing, and hospital operational awareness. Revenue Cycle Management – supports tools and analyses related to billing, payment management, denial appeals, and provider reporting. Takes a proactive liaison/analyst role: acts as liaison for internal stakeholders, translating needs into reporting and analytic solutions, ensuring requests are triaged, recorded and tracked, and maintaining high‑quality analytic outputs. Assists in identifying data for competitive, scenario and performance analyses, and financial modeling to inform new and existing processes and opportunities. Works with IT on ongoing improvement of Mount Sinai’s data warehouse to ensure consistency, reporting, and operational needs. Develops and maintains project work plans, tracks progress, and reports status. Provides technical support for data analytics functions and tool implementation, creates new BI reports and dashboards. Prepares clear project documentation including analytic methods, decisions and caveats. Ensures customers are trained to use self‑service BI tools and dashboards. Mentors Level I and II Analysts, teaching process & performance measures, workflows, and effective use of tools and reports. Shares knowledge with colleagues to build core analytical strength and redundancy. Applies process‑improvement principles to support a process‑focused approach. Other duties as assigned. Compensation Statement Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $106,108 – $174,720 annually.
