POSITION SUMMARY:

This field position under general direction, supervise maintenance and repairs to contract requirements and company at a specific site. May include additional duties such as parts and fuel purchasing, grounds keeping, inclement weather duties, facility repairs and upkeep and other relevant duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Within the framework of the company’s Maintenance Excellence Program, schedule and administer fleet and facility maintenance, assist in troubleshooting problems
• Demonstrate competence in the diagnosis of mechanical and electrical systems and ability to troubleshoot more complex engine and chassis problems
• Communicate availability of vehicles for service with dispatch
• Participate in the hiring, training, and motivating technicians and maintenance staff
• Delegate responsibilities and monitor performance; handle disciplinary concerns and employee development
• Supervise bus washing and fueling
• Coordinate services for building and grounds keeping
• Review repair orders or code accounts payable documents
• Ensure compliance on a day-to-day basis with State, Federal, and Company requirements
• Complete special projects as assigned
• Follow up on all warranty issues with the Warrantee Administrator and are recovered properly
• Maintain parts inventory and variance analysis within Procurement guidelines

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of 3 years’ supervisory experience in automotive and truck mechanics
• Basic mechanical ability and understanding of vehicle systems including electrical systems
• State inspection license (not applicable in Delaware)
• Underground storage take operator if required
• Completion of required hazardous material, brake and Dossier training
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid CDL license and School Bus Endorsement or the willingness to obtain one
• Computer literacy including development of spreadsheets and word documents, tracking data and generating reports
• Ability to handle difficult situations professionally and in a non-confrontational manner
• Integrity and ability to handle confidential information
• Ability to trouble shoot and problem solve
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed
• Ability to successfully complete any relevant training and certification
• Ability to work outside regardless of weather conditions

EDUCATION:

• High school diploma, Trade school, mechanical courses, or equivalent preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Periodically lifting, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 35 lbs. and lifting heavier objects with assistance
• Ability to climb ladders and stairs
• Ability to reach to shoulder height and overhead
• Fine motor coordination & the ability to operate hand tools and other auto repair equipment
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel and reach around vehicles to perform inspections and repairs
