About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days EOW, days, First to Float Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Not required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Experience reading basic telemetry strips, experience with general and orthopedic surgical patients, experience with CVA and TIA. Description: Telemetry unit with 48 beds divided into two sections. Patient ratios are 1:5. Common diagnoses include COVID, respiratory issues, gastrointestinal conditions, diabetes, TIAs, CVAs, as well as general, orthopedic, and spinal surgical patients. RN responsibilities include interpreting telemetry strips and signing at least once per shift. Telemetry is monitored remotely, with techs available to assist. Charge nurse and house supervisor roles are available without patient assignments. Nurse aides are present, with ratios of 1:10-15. Equipment used includes BiPAP, CPAP, high flow oxygen, and some breathing treatments. Shifts include 12-hour durations with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Self-scheduling is applied and balanced by management. Weekend commitment requires coverage for two weekends in a four-week schedule. Holiday requirements include working two days and one evening or two evenings and one day over major holidays. Floating may occur to different departments if qualified. Navy blue scrubs are required.
