This position supports both food preparation and case presentation, helping ensure our display cases reflect the quality, freshness, and attention to detail that have made us the best gourmet grocer in town.

Routine Tasks:

• Prepare and execute Joseph's recipes for proteins, vegetables, starches, and other menu items
• Maintain Joseph's standards for product freshness and sanitation
• Ensure all items are plated, packaged, and presented according to Joseph's quality and appearance standards
• Replenish, rotate, and maintain products and display cases
• Operate knives, ovens, stoves, grills, scales, wrapping machines, and other Kitchen equipment
• Assist with other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Food preparation or kitchen experience preferred
• Food safety knowledge or ServSafe certification a plus
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Basic math and reading skills
• Strong attention to detail and visual presentation
• Team-oriented with a positive attitude
• A passion for serving people

Physical & Work Environment

A Kitchen Prep Cook works primarily in the Kitchen department. This role involves walking and standing for extended periods, lifting and moving products weighing up to 80 pounds, and working in both preparation rooms and refrigerated coolers. You will be exposed to varying temperatures and work environments throughout the day. Frequent interaction with fellow team members is an essential part of the role.
