Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring 2 years of critical care/PACU experience and a MO or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the PACU unit of a Level I Trauma Center hospital
  • 38-bed PACU with an average daily census of 70-90 patients
  • Patient population includes adults, occasional adolescents, and geriatric patients
  • Recover surgical patients from neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant cases
  • Does not recover open heart surgeries or liver transplants
  • Unit has its own dedicated PCT/transport team and operates 24/7
  • Night shift schedule of 3x12-hour shifts, Friday-Sunday 19:00-07:30
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Floating required within PACU or PreOp units only
  • Night shift staff will need to learn how to work up a preop patient
  • Uses Epic for charting

Requirements

  • Active MO or compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; CCRN and TNCC preferred
  • Minimum 2 years PACU experience in a Level I Trauma Center required
  • Minimum 2 years ICU/critical care experience required
  • Level I and Level II Trauma Center experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Critical care skills required including artificial airway management, invasive monitoring (including ICP), blood/transfusion administration, and vasoactive drug administration
  • Skilled in dysrhythmia recognition and management, IV therapy, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Experience with pre/post-operative patient care, 12-lead EKG/ECG, and pre-op assessment and education
  • Previous charge experience preferred
  • First-time travelers considered if they meet the 2 years of Level I Critical Care/ICU and PACU experience requirement

Additional Information

  • Recover a wide range of acute post-operative surgical patients requiring critical care level monitoring and interventions
  • Facility is a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center and teaching hospital with over 1,270 staffed beds
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
  • Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to this health system as a traveler
  • Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period before requiring a 3-month break in service
  • Must be clean-shaven or have facial hair compatible with respirator fit testing requirements
