Registered Nurse - Infusion Clinic

Currently recruiting a Registered Nurse - Infusion Clinic to provide specialized outpatient infusion nursing services at the Infusion Clinic within the Department of Medicine at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio, Texas . This position supports patients receiving infusion therapies in a military treatment facility serving active duty service members, military families, retirees, and other eligible beneficiaries. The clinic operates Monday through Friday with 8-hour shifts scheduled between 6: 00 a.M. And 6: 00 p.M. This opportunity is ideal for experienced Medical-Surgical or Infusion Registered Nurses seeking a federal healthcare nursing position in a specialty infusion clinic.

DUTIES OF THE REGISTERED NURSE - INFUSION CLINIC:

• Perform the full range of Registered Nurse duties within the scope of clinical privileges granted by Brooke Army Medical Center.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical, family, and social histories, current health status, and treatment needs.
• Develop, implement, evaluate, and document individualized patient care plans.
• Administer intravenous medications, infusion therapies, and other prescribed treatments in accordance with physician orders and established clinical protocols.
• Monitor patients during infusion treatments and recognize, assess, and manage adverse reactions to infusion therapy.
• Manage multiple types of central venous access devices, including peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC lines), implanted ports, tunneled catheters, and other vascular access devices.
• Operate and monitor specialized medical equipment, including intravenous infusion pumps and cardiac monitoring devices.
• Assess patient and family learning needs and provide education regarding infusion therapies, medications, vascular access care, and follow-up treatment.
• Perform nursing interventions and diagnostic procedures within the Registered Nurse scope of practice.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations by initiating appropriate life-saving interventions.
• Supervise and appropriately delegate nursing care activities to Licensed Vocational Nurses and unlicensed personnel.
• Communicate effectively with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team regarding patient status and treatment plans.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation in the electronic medical record.
• Adhere to infection prevention and control policies, patient safety standards, and military treatment facility procedures.
• Participate in mandatory training, continuing education, staff meetings, and quality improvement initiatives while adapting to changing patient care needs.

QUALIFICATIONS OF THE REGISTERED NURSE - INFUSION CLINIC:
Required

• Associate Degree in Nursing from a college or university accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
• Current, active, unrestricted Registered Nurse license from any U.S. State, territory, District of Columbia, or U.S. Jurisdiction.
• Minimum of two years of full-time experience within the last four years, post-graduation, as a clinical nurse in a Medical-Surgical setting.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.
• Demonstrated skill in setting up, operating, and monitoring intravenous infusion pumps and cardiac monitoring devices.
• Experience monitoring patient responses to infusion therapy and managing adverse infusion reactions.
• Experience managing multiple types of central venous access devices, including PICC lines, implanted ports, tunneled catheters, and similar vascular access devices.
• Meet all continuing medical education requirements applicable to the position.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen for access to U.S. Government networks.
• Must successfully complete government credentialing requirements.
• Must maintain an active Tier 1 background investigation before beginning services and throughout the contract.
• Must meet all occupational health requirements, including physical examination, tuberculosis screening, required immunizations, and annual influenza vaccination before in-processing.
• Must complete all government-required orientation and mandatory training.
