As we build our Roadrunner facility in Pecos, Texas, we’re looking for a Material Handling Coordinator to keep equipment and materials received, protected, organized, and ready for installation—and to help set up the warehouse that will support the plant long after construction is complete.
The Role
The Material Handling Coordinator supports the Roadrunner project warehouse and construction team with the receipt, handling, storage, preservation, and distribution of construction equipment and materials. You will make sure the right materials are in the right place, in the right condition, when contractors need them—while keeping accurate records and a safe, organized yard and warehouse. As the project moves toward handover, you will help build the inventory, spares, and stock levels that Operations will rely on to run the plant.
What You’ll Do
Receiving & Inspection
- Receive deliveries of equipment, materials, and supplies and verify quantities and general condition against packing lists, bills of lading, and purchase orders.
- Accurately document equipment and material receipts, staging locations, and any discrepancies, damage, or deviations identified during delivery and inspection.
- Report damaged, missing, excess, or incorrectly delivered materials to your supervisor and the project team for timely resolution.
Storage, Staging & Distribution
- Stage equipment and materials to designated storage sites based on project requirements and direction from Roadrunner project personnel.
- Organize and store materials in an orderly manner to allow for easy identification, access, and distribution.
- Maintain proper identification and separation of different materials to prevent loss, damage, or incorrect distribution.
- Verify that equipment and material bundles are properly staged, complete, and ready for contractors to install in accordance with upcoming construction activities.
- Deliver equipment and materials to the appropriate storage and work areas to support safe and efficient construction activities.
Equipment Preservation
- Ensure equipment preservation during the storage phase is properly performed and maintained according to project requirements and vendor recommendations.
- Document preservation activities and flag any equipment condition concerns to the project team.
Inventory Control & Documentation
- Maintain accurate inventory and tracking records of equipment, materials, and supplies using the project Material Tracker, receiving log, and other designated systems.
- Coordinate with the project team to identify, document, and track equipment spares, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and applicable information from Installation, Operation & Maintenance (IOM) manuals and other vendor documentation.
Operations Readiness
- Assist the project team in establishing min/max inventory levels for required materials, obtaining vendor quotations, and setting warehouse stock levels to support ongoing Operations following project handover.
Safety & Housekeeping
- Follow all company safety procedures for material handling, storage, housekeeping, and equipment use.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and material storage area.
- Keep walkways, access points, and emergency equipment areas clear of stored materials and debris.
- Perform other warehouse and material-handling duties as directed to support safe and efficient operations.
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of experience in warehouse, material handling, receiving, inventory control, or logistics, preferably in a construction, industrial, oil and gas, or manufacturing setting.
- Experience verifying shipments against packing lists, bills of lading, and purchase orders, and documenting discrepancies.
- Experience operating forklifts and other material-handling equipment, with the ability to obtain site-required certification.
- Working computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and inventory or material tracking tools.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
What Will Set You Apart
- Warehouse or laydown-yard experience on a major capital or EPC construction project.
- Familiarity with equipment preservation programs and vendor IOM documentation.
- Experience supporting project-to-operations handover, including spare parts and critical spares setup.
- Experience with ERP, CMMS, or warehouse management systems.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification and current forklift/telehandler certification.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in counts, records, and documentation.
- Well organized, with the ability to keep a busy yard and warehouse orderly and easy to navigate.
- Clear, timely communication with supervisors, the project team, vendors, and contractors.
- Safety-first mindset and commitment to good housekeeping.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing construction schedules.
- Team player who takes ownership and follows through.
Work Environment
