(Developmental) Content Editor

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a (Developmental) Content Editor based in United States.

This is a fully remote freelance opportunity focused on shaping high-quality B2B technology content from concept to final draft.
You will review long-form content across formats such as SEO, AEO, GEO, thought leadership, ebooks, and guides.
The role focuses primarily on substance, ensuring each piece delivers against its brief, supports business objectives, and speaks effectively to its intended audience.
You will work between writers and copyeditors, providing strategic guidance as well as detailed, actionable feedback.
By supporting a dedicated portfolio of customers, you will develop a deep understanding of their businesses, products, audiences, and brand voices.
The position offers the opportunity to work across diverse B2B SaaS topics while staying current with content marketing and search trends.
Success requires strong editorial judgment, clear communication, curiosity, and the ability to quickly understand new industries and products.

Accountabilities:

• Review B2B SaaS and technology content for strategic alignment, substance, structure, logic, and overall effectiveness.
• Evaluate whether content effectively addresses the brief, supports the client's business goals, and is appropriately tailored to its target audience.
• Provide writers with actionable feedback ranging from high-level strategic guidance to detailed inline edits.
• Edit prose at the line level when needed while maintaining a primary focus on developmental and substantive editing.
• Review long-form content across SEO, AEO, GEO, thought leadership, blog posts, ebooks, guides, and other formats.
• Occasionally review content for LinkedIn, landing pages, and other marketing channels.
• Develop a strong understanding of an assigned portfolio of customers, including their businesses, products, audiences, brands, and broader content strategies.
• Apply knowledge of each customer's goals and context when reviewing individual pieces of content.
• Collaborate effectively with writers and copyeditors to maintain a consistently high editorial standard.
• Deliver completed edits within one business day of receiving an assignment.

Requirements:

• Proven experience writing and editing diverse types of content for B2B technology companies, particularly long-form formats such as blog posts, ebooks, and guides.
• Working knowledge of SEO and AEO/GEO best practices, with a solid understanding of fundamental principles.
• Strong developmental editing and editorial judgment, with the ability to identify issues in substance, structure, logic, audience alignment, and strategic execution.
• Ability to provide clear, actionable, and constructive feedback while explaining the reasoning behind recommended changes.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to balance direct, candid feedback with respect and professionalism.
• Ability to quickly learn and understand new industries, companies, products, and audiences.
• Genuine interest in B2B technology, SaaS products, content marketing, and evolving industry trends and best practices.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage freelance assignments within short turnaround times.
• Availability for approximately 5–10 hours per week, with scheduling varying according to assignments.
• Experience working in-house at a B2B technology company is a plus.
• Experience developing and executing content strategies is a plus.
• Experience managing, mentoring, or coaching writers, formally or informally, is a plus.
