Senior Associate General Council Manager - REMOTE

About the Role

Optum is a global organization delivering care and technology to support healthier lives. The role is an in‑house counsel position serving the Home & Community Care Solutions business, including naviHealth and Senior Community Care (ISNP), providing legal support to care coordination services for Medicare Advantage members.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal counsel to the supported businesses.
• Advise on post‑acute utilization management, Medicare marketing, and other regulatory matters.
• Understand current and emerging regulatory frameworks affecting the business.
• Interact with federal and state regulators.
• Build solid relationships with business leaders, matrix partners, and legal colleagues.
• Identify solutions to complex health‑care regulatory issues.
• Work both autonomously and collaboratively.
• Communicate effectively in oral and written forms.
• Develop best practices to address emerging legal and business risks.

Required Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate degree.
• 10+ years of health‑care practice experience.
• Health‑care regulatory experience.
• Knowledge of state and federal health‑care, insurance, privacy laws.
• Ability to build and maintain rapport with peers and external contacts.
• Track record of independent decision‑making on complex legal issues.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience representing health‑care providers or Medicare Advantage health plans.

Benefits

The salary range for this role is $150,200 to $288,500 annually, based on full‑time employment. Benefits include a comprehensive package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase, and 401(k) contribution. Remote work is permitted from anywhere within the U.S.; employees must adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy.
