TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Med/Surg RN in Alton, Illinois, 62002!

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active Illinois license or evidence of application process Certifications: BLS certified, ACLS preferred Must-Have: Familiarity with NG tubes, drains, feeding tubes, and tube feedings Description: The unit consists of 22 beds in the west hallway and 23 beds in the south. The nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:4-6, adjusted based on patient acuity. Common diagnoses include sepsis, congestive heart failure, stroke, wounds, tracheostomy patients, chest tubes, hypoxia, pneumonia, tube feedings, and post-surgical cases. Registered Nurses are not required to titrate drips. There is a charge nurse present on each shift, who does not take on a patient assignment. Certified Nursing Assistants or Patient Care Technicians are available on the unit to assist. Respiratory Therapy equipment includes Bipap, high flow, and Airvo; nurses are not responsible for titrating oxygen. Telemetry monitors are utilized, and a monitor technician is available in the ICU. Registered Nurses have access to monitors in the unit and should be able to read strips, as required. Shifts consist of 12-hour days or nights, with the option for block scheduling. Every other weekend and holiday shifts are mandatory. There is no call or standby requirement, and nurses will not float to other units. The dress code mandates navy blue scrubs. Unit-specific orientation includes two shifts with a preceptor and one additional shift with the team.
