Recovery Support Specialist - PT 16 hrs. Saturday and Sunday 10AM -6PM Marks Walk

Overview PT 16 hours – Saturday and Sunday 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Program: Marks Walk. Scope of service: The Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) provides comprehensive community-based residential and support services to persons with mental health, intellectual, and addiction needs. Provides hands-on, intensive skill-building interventions and supports to enrich and achieve an overall level of independence and well-being with persons served. Collaborates with Community Support Specialists/Case Managers and the program to support individuals in achieving aspirations through person-centered, strengths-based, and culturally competent methods. The RSS is experienced in health and human services and has served as a Peer Specialist/Recovery Support Specialist for a minimum of one year. In addition to providing recovery support services and serving as a consumer advocate, the RSS works in a leadership role mentoring and coaching peers, facilitating groups, and/or developing and implementing recovery plans to assist clients in pursuing their recovery goals. The RSS provides hands-on instruction with activities of daily living, life-skill and wellness coaching, and provides case management activities as required. Responsibilities Client Care: Establishes rapport and working relationship with clients. Mentor role: supports individuals who are newly attempting to create a life in the community by teaching, role modeling, and prompting to enhance strengths and build skill deficits. Face-to-face, hands-on supportive assistance helping clients maintain community living. Promotes clients’ strengths and abilities to improve socialization, recovery, self-advocacy, development of natural supports, and maintenance of community living skills. Provides supportive companionship and problem-solving discussions. Engages clients in routine medical, social, wellness, and other community appointments as part of their recovery. Works with and supports clients to achieve aspirations and goals and participates in recovery planning as indicated in their Care plan. Develops individual recovery and/or wellness plans as indicated. Assists clients to access community resources, travel planning, and transportation efforts. Attends and participates in identified collaborative team and external community meetings as indicated. Facilitates/cofacilitates psychoeducational groups as indicated. Maintains client records and reporting documentation as indicated by the agency. Attends and participates in monthly staff and supervision meetings. Conducts regular apartment/house inspections and supports clients in maintaining overall cleanliness. Environmental and Mentoring Responsibilities: Coaches and mentors RSS interns during practicum placements and serves as lead RSS in programs with multiple RSS staff. Co-facilitates RSS self-care and supervision groups as indicated, in collaboration with Program Management. Provides support and accountability during fidelity, quality, and licensing reviews. Maintains a clean, well-organized work environment and reports environmental concerns as identified. Participates in upkeep and sanitation of common areas, kitchens, bathrooms, and other areas as identified. Participates in Food Bank activities as assigned and applicable; participates in property upkeep and general office maintenance to support workplace safety. Completes other designated environmental tasks as assigned. Quality Assurance – Chart Documentation and Professional Development: Adheres to policies and practices as outlined in the staff handbook and program operations manual. Maintains respectful, constructive, and cooperative work conduct. Upholds HIPAA regulations and secures all necessary releases of information for outside communication. Models culturally competent behavior when interacting with clients, providers, and fellow staff. Maintains accurate electronic records and case files in accordance with programming, contractual, licensing, and accreditation requirements. Adheres to the standards of CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities). Qualifications RSS high school diploma or equivalent considered if accompanied with a Connecticut Recovery University Certification and a minimum of one year of experience in a related behavioral health field. First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification within 90 days of hire. Employee is responsible to maintain ongoing certification. Valid Connecticut Driver’s license and willingness to transport clients in personal vehicles for RSS positions. Requires reliable transportation and the minimum CT State automobile liability insurance. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic record keeping.
