In-house OB/GYN provider for hospital-based OB emergency department

Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking Missouri-licensed OB/GYN physicians for an ongoing locum tenens opportunity in St. Louis, Missouri. This hospital-based OB emergency department role involves scheduled day and night shifts supporting obstetric and gynecologic care within a 12-bed OB ED, backed by 24/7 OB hospitalist coverage and APP support.

Opportunity Highlights

• Obstetrics and Gynecology locum tenens role
• Scheduled 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM and 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Approximately 30-40 shifts per month, with potential for additional coverage
• No call shifts included
• Support for pregnant patients up to 6 weeks postpartum
• Diagnosis and treatment of ectopic pregnancies
• Hospital-based OB ED with 24/7 OB hospitalist team support
• APP support (PA, NP, Midwives) working up to 18 hours daily
• Average daily patient volume: 40–60 patients

Schedule & Coverage

• 12-hour scheduled shifts: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM and 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Ongoing coverage with potential for more than one provider to meet shift volume
• No on-call shifts
• In-house coverage supported by OB hospitalist team and APPs

Practice Environment
This opportunity is based within a hospital OB ED supporting obstetric and gynecologic emergencies. The department maintains 24/7 OB hospitalist coverage, with APPs working up to 18 hours daily, including triage and inpatient care. The OB ED manages a high patient volume, averaging 40 to 60 patients daily, in a dedicated 12-bed unit.

Clinical Scope

• Evaluation of pregnant patients up to 6 weeks postpartum
• Diagnosis and management of ectopic pregnancies
• Support of OB patients with OB hospitalist team and APPs (PA, NP, Midwives)
• Management of obstetric and gynecologic complaints in a hospital setting
• Documentation and order entry within hospital EMR systems

Candidate Requirements

• Active Missouri medical license
• MD degree
• Board-certified or board-eligible in OB/GYN
• Support for diagnosis and treatment of ectopic pregnancy
• Support staff includes Certified Nurse Midwives and APPs (PA, NP, Midwives) working up to 18 hours daily
