Description
American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for a Level I trauma center's Main Operating Room, requiring NBSTSA certification and 2 years of OR experience.
Details
- Work in a 21-suite Main Operating Room covering all surgical specialties including Trauma, Transplant, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, GU-GYN, and Robotics
- Common cases include total joints, spine, trauma, craniotomy, flaps, robotics, transplants/procurements, trauma/burns, and GU/GYN
- 3x12-hour day shifts from 6:30am-7:00pm, including Saturday, Sunday, and one weekday
- No call requirements
- Float within scope to meet facility needs between like units or sister facilities as needed
- EPIC charting system used
- Radiation badge required for the role
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist required
- NBSTSA certification required (NCCT not accepted)
- BLS certification required
- License required if applicable
- Experience in Neuro (spine/crani), ENT (flaps), and Robotics (Da Vinci Xi) cases highly preferred
- Experience with trauma, burns, orthopedic procedures (spinal fusion, total hip/knee replacement) preferred
- Full SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- Join a Magnet-designated, nurse-driven department within a Level I academic trauma center
- Nursing team composition is 75% RNs and 25% Certified Surgical Technologists, with RNs trained in both scrubbing and circulating
- Scrubs provided by facility
- First-time travelers will be considered
- Previous MUSC employees (including PRN staff) must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler
- All requested time off must be submitted at time of consideration and is subject to facility approval
- Local candidates accepted on a case-by-case basis
- 60-mile radius rule applies, with non-local candidates prioritized
- During hurricane season (June-November), all staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
- Facility may cancel up to 1 shift per 2 weeks, with hours able to be redistributed
