This role focuses on outreach, individualized student support, barrier removal, and system coordination to ensure all students have equitable access to education. The specialist collaborates closely with students, families, staff, and community partners to remove barriers to attendance and support pathways to graduation. This position is essential to improving the district’s engagement, attendance, and graduation outcomes. Requirements Education Level Details: • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling, Human Services, or a related field required • Master’s degree preferred; or • Associate’s degree or at least 60 college credit hours and five (5) years of related work experience in social services, health, education, or outreach will be considered in combination License / Certification Required: • A valid Colorado driver's license is required. • Colorado Teaching or Counseling License preferred but not required Work Experience Required: • Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience working with students or families in education, outreach, or social service roles • Experience supporting high school-aged youth, particularly in underserved or at-risk populations • Experience with family engagement, community partnerships, or case management preferred Other Skills and Abilities Required: • Strong interpersonal and communication skills • Ability to build trust and collaborate with diverse student and family populations • Experience conducting outreach, home visits, and one-on-one student interventions • Knowledge of attendance improvement strategies and dropout prevention frameworks • Ability to manage data and monitor outcomes related to student progress • Proficient with technology and case management systems • Fluency in Spanish preferred Funding This position is funded through a Reengagement Grant for a two-year period beginning with the 2025–2026 school year. Employment may be dependent on the successful renewal of grant funding. The district will make every effort to provide advance notice if funding is not realized. Evaluation Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provision of Adams County School District Board Policy, GCOA-Evaluation of Instructional Staff. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Major Responsibilities Locate and engage students who have dropped out or exhibit chronic absenteeism Partner with community agencies and internal teams to conduct outreach and initial needs assessments Conduct home visits and direct student outreach to remove barriers to reentry and participation Individualized Intervention Develop and implement personalized support plans that include academic, behavioral, and wraparound supports Coordinate with school staff to deliver timely and effective interventions aligned with RtI or MTSS frameworks Student & Family Support Foster strong, trusting relationships with students and their families Advocate for student needs and connect families with appropriate school and community resources Communicate attendance and graduation expectations through culturally responsive approaches Data and Compliance Maintain accurate records of outreach efforts, case management activities, and student progress Track reengagement metrics and outcomes for grant compliance and internal reporting Identify trends in disengagement and help design system-level responses Collaboration and Leadership Work closely with counselors, administrators, teachers, and attendance teams Participate in campus-based problem‑solving and intervention teams Provide input on systems improvement to reduce barriers and promote graduation pathways SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS The physical demands, work environment factors and mental functions described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work primarily in a usual office or school environment and will be expected to conduct home visits and outreach in the community and in the school. The Employee may be required to work from a remote location in the event of a district shut‑down or other event. Mental Functions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate, compare, analyze, coordinate, instruct, evaluate, and use interpersonal skills. Occasionally required to compile, copy, compute and negotiate. Compensation for this position is $73,574 to $104,368 per year (2025-2026), based on verified experience and qualifications, and aligned with the Adams 14 salary schedule. This position is scheduled for 215 work days annually. Additional compensation opportunities may be available through stipends or supplemental assignments, depending on job responsibilities.
