Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring 2+ years of CVICU/open heart experience and an active MD or Compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) of a hospital environment
• Patient population includes cardiac surgery (CABG, valve, CABG/valve), coronary artery disease (STEMI, NSTEMI, AFib with RVR, cardiogenic shock), vascular cases (peripheral bypasses, EVAR), and thoracic cases (VATS)
• 1:2 patient ratio
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• 3x12hr Day shifts, 7:30 AM - 8:00 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within specialty, sister units, and lower acuity areas as needed
• No on-call responsibilities specified

Requirements

• Active RN license (Maryland or Compact) required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA only)
• CPI certification required (Calm Every Storm online version currently accepted)
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
• Minimum 2+ years of CVICU/open heart experience required
• Prior charge experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care
• Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and ETT/NT suctioning
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Experience with continuous IV sedation and neuromuscular blockade preferred
• Experience with CABG, IABP, TAVR, and post cardiac surgery care
• Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG
• Knowledge of infection prevention and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with IV insulin protocols

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive critical care nursing to complex cardiovascular, vascular, and thoracic surgery patients
• First-time travelers considered if they have extensive CVICU/open heart experience
• Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments with no restrictions
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Locals residing under 50 miles from the facility are not accepted unless otherwise specified
• Maximum of 7 days RTO can be requested; if more than 4 consecutive days are requested, an additional week must be added to the contract
• One major holiday off during the winter season may be allowed depending on unit
• Returning staff must be separated from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a travel nurse
• Returning travelers must have at least a 6-month break from the system after completing an assignment before returning
• Compliance documents must be completed within 5 days prior to start date
• Labs must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
