Road Breakdown Agent

Job Overview This in-office position supports company drivers with breakdowns, repair coordination, and warranty recovery for Werner equipment. The role involves phone and computer communication, purchase authorization, and coordination with operations and repair facilities. Essential Job Functions Answer telephone breakdown calls reported by company drivers or customers and input related information into the computer system. Review and authorize all purchases, repairs, and purchase receipts by drivers, tracking of warranty repairs, truck recalls, notifying the Operations department of trucks due for service. Communicate with repair facilities or repair shops to monitor repair progress, and to close billing charges and purchase order jobs. Review and approve computer transmitted reports by drivers via satellite communication for on-the-road repairs. Receive and send fax requests to shops pertaining to billing or repair instructions. Coordinate with the Operations department routing to get loads to repair shops or to terminals for repairs or downtime. Communicate with outside terminals through the computer system to notify of repairs needed or check repairs done to designated trucks. Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisory personnel. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of D.O.T. regulations. Ability to communicate with drivers, customers, and repair facilities in a professional and courteous manner. Strong knowledge of both tractor and trailer mechanical training. Skill in operating a computer terminal. Strong decision-making skills. Knowledge of U.S. geography. Skill in typing (35-45 wpm). Knowledge of various repair vendors, their capabilities, and locations throughout the U.S. usually gained through practical experience and on-the-job training. Education and Experience High school graduate or equivalent experience. Two to three years transportation industry experience preferred. One to two years AS400 and/or computer experience preferred. One to two years mechanical training experience preferred. Physical Requirements Seeing and hearing: read documents, computer screen, answer phones, 75-100 % communicate in person.
