Residential Design Director

Role Description This is a full-timerole as a Director of Residential Architecture fo a 40 person firm in Naperville, IL. The Architect will participate in all phases of project delivery, including client interaction, conceptual design, design developemdnt ,construction documentation, and construction administration for residentiall projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading a team of 5-6 architects developing design solutions, preparing drawings and specifications, coordinating with consultants and contractors, and ensuring compliance with building codes and sustainability standards such as LEED. The Architect will collaborate closely with clients and internal teams, contribute to presentations, attend project meetings, and support project budgeting and scheduling. The role requires strong communication and teamwork skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Qualifications Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) from an accredited institution; architectural licensure or active progress toward licensure is preferred. Proficiency in architectural design and documentation tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and related visualization software. Experience with construction documents, detailing, building codes, and coordination with engineering and other design disciplines. Knowledge of sustainable design principles; LEED accreditation or experience on LEED projects is a plus. Strong interpersonal, communication, and client-facing skills, with the ability to facilitate productive meetings and collaborate in multidisciplinary teams. Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, handle multiple projects, and meet schedules and budgets with high-quality deliverables. Experience in residential and commercial projects, particularly within the Midwest region, is beneficial.
