Overview

This opportunity is designed for individuals seeking to complete a practicum or internship with T and N Services and Solutions as part of an academic program or professional training requirement. Interns will gain experience in a supportive, ethically grounded environment while contributing meaningfully to organizational operations and client services.

Please note that this is an unpaid position and is structured to comply with criteria for unpaid internships.

Key Responsibilities

Interns will gain hands-on knowledge and practical experience working with clients in an outpatient substance use disorder (SUD) treatment program.

Based on academic requirements, training needs, and organizational priorities, interns may participate in some or all of the following:

• Attend and actively participate in weekly supervision meetings to receive guidance, discuss client-related experiences, and support professional development.
• Conduct intakes, assessments, counseling sessions, and discharges for referrals and active clients under appropriate supervision and within organizational protocol.
  
• Facilitate client groups, which may be offered in person and virtually, ensuring engagement, structure, and adherence to program guidelines.
• Support program operations, client services, administrative tasks, or project-based assignments under supervision.
• Participate in trainings, staff meetings, supervision sessions, and professional development opportunities as required.
• Conduct documentation, research, data entry, or report preparation in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
• Maintain strict confidentiality, protecting client information in compliance with organizational policies, HIPAA (if applicable), and DC privacy requirements.
• Demonstrate professionalism in all interactions with clients, staff, partners, and fellow interns.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in, or recently completed, a program that requires or recommends a practicum or internship.
• Ability to commit to a consistent schedule of at least 10 hours per week from December 2026 to June 2027 .
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and respect for confidentiality.
• Ability to adhere to DC workplace standards, including safety, non-discrimination, and client privacy regulations.

• Performance of Duties: I will perform and complete all assigned duties willingly, diligently, and to the best of my professional ability.
• Adherence to Policies: I will comply with all rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of T and N Services and Solutions, with particular emphasis on preserving client privacy and confidentiality at all times and in all circumstances, including when offsite.
• Schedule Commitments: I will honor all schedule commitments I make and provide a minimum of 48 hours’ notice if I am unable to fulfill a scheduled obligation.
• Time Commitment: I will develop and maintain a consistent schedule, committing a minimum of 10 hours per week to my responsibilities at T and N Services and Solutions.
• Professional Conduct: I will treat all clients, staff, visitors, and fellow interns/volunteers with courtesy, respect, and consideration, and will consistently strive to serve as a role model for professional and ethical conduct.
