Scientist I, Oncology

Generate Biomedicines seeks a Scientist I with cancer biology expertise to design and execute cellular assays supporting protein-based oncology therapeutic discovery. The role involves cell line development, assay design, flow cytometry, and collaboration across research functions to inform project decisions.

Responsibilities

• Establish, maintain, and characterize cancer cell lines, tumor organoids, and primary human tumor cells
• Generate and validate engineered cell lines using transfection, transduction, and CRISPR-based editing
• Design, execute, and troubleshoot assays measuring viability, proliferation, cytotoxicity, and mechanism of action
• Apply flow cytometry, live-cell imaging, and molecular biology techniques to characterize therapeutic activity
• Analyze experimental results, interpret findings, and recommend next steps for project progression

Requirements

• Ph.D. in cancer biology, cell biology, immunology, or related field; or Master's with 6+ years relevant experience
• Proficiency with mammalian cell culture, cancer cell lines, and primary tumor cells
• Hands-on experience with in vivo tumor models including xenograft and syngeneic approaches
• Expertise in cell line engineering, molecular biology techniques, and flow cytometry
• Experience developing quantitative cell-based assays for viability, cytotoxicity, and internalization
• Demonstrated ability to plan experiments independently, analyze data, and recommend follow-up studies
• Proficiency with protein detection platforms such as ELISA, AlphaLISA, or MSD
