Life Sciences Research Assistant

Role Overview

Apply life sciences expertise to create advanced evaluation tasks that help train next-generation AI systems. This remote contract role focuses on authentic scientific research artifacts, complex technical challenges, and rigorous rubrics that assess how AI systems reason and interpret real-world life sciences work. Prior AI experience is not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop complex life sciences evaluation tasks, including experimental-design critiques, protocol analysis, and primary-data interpretation.
• Source and synthesize raw experimental data, laboratory protocols, technical literature, and supplementary documents.
• Define and document the appropriate methodological approach and biological interpretation for each task.
• Create comprehensive multi-item rubrics evaluating methodological rigor, data interpretation, and source fidelity.
• Ensure assignments reflect the ambiguity, nuance, and depth of real scientific work rather than simplified or hypothetical scenarios.
• Collaborate asynchronously with project coordinators to refine deliverables based on feedback.

Qualifications

• Bachelor''s or Master''s degree in biology, biomedical sciences, biochemistry, or a closely related field.
• At least 2 years of hands-on research or laboratory experience involving primary-data analysis and scientific protocols.
• Demonstrated ability to work in protocol-driven, multi-source scientific workflows.
• Strong scientific reasoning, source synthesis, methodological evaluation, and data-interpretation skills.
• Strong written English skills and experience drafting or reviewing scientific documentation.
• Comfort working with CSVs, spreadsheets, PDFs, and technical documents.
• Careful attention to detail and commitment to objective, high-quality rubric design.

Work Terms

• Remote, independent contractor engagement.
• Work is paid per task that meets project specifications; completion time varies by task complexity, experience, and workflow.
• Minimum submission requirements apply, including a minimum weekly task-submission commitment.
• Selected candidates should be ready to begin their first tasks within 24 to 48 hours after completing the required onboarding steps.

Compensation

$30 to $50 per hour, with compensation structured on approved task output.
