Job Title: MIG Welder / Fabrication Technician Job Description
This role focuses on MIG and flux core welding of primarily mild steel components, operating fabrication equipment, and assisting with production processes in a small, quiet shop environment. You will interpret blueprints, weld in all positions, and help ensure that finished products meet quality and safety standards while working closely with a small team on a single shift schedule.
Responsibilities
You will join a workplace that invests in its people and equipment, offering flexible benefits, retirement savings support, and clear opportunities for growth. The benefits package allows you to select only the coverage you need, and a 401(k) program with matching contributions helps you build long-term financial security. Paid time off increases with tenure, including multiple weeks of PTO over time, eight paid holidays, and floating holidays that can be used to create a day off nearly every month. The organization supports your development with tuition reimbursement and encourages safety by providing an annual allowance for safety-related purchases such as steel-toe footwear and protective eyewear, as well as supplying most required gear. You can explore growth opportunities by moving into other departments if you want to learn new skills, and you will benefit from working with newer machines in a shop that continues to invest in modern equipment.
Work Environment
The work environment offers a small shop feel, with around 13 people on the floor including leadership, creating a close-knit and collaborative atmosphere. The facility is described as not super dirty and relatively quiet compared to many industrial settings. Team members typically work in pairs, fostering cooperation and support on the floor. The operation currently runs a single shift, with first shift hours from Monday through Thursday, 5:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Overtime is available on Fridays, typically between 5 and 8 hours; overtime is voluntary at present, but may become mandatory if there are not enough volunteers. The shop uses fabrication equipment such as brake presses and shears, along with multiple newer machines that have been added in the last two years. Safety is emphasized, with most equipment and protective gear provided, and an annual safety allowance to help cover items like steel-toe footwear and safety glasses. Attendance is managed through a three-strike system, where an initial call-in counts as a warning and subsequent occurrences accrue points.
