Veterinary Specialty Hospital of San Diego - North County is seeking a board-certified or residency-trained Veterinary Dermatologist to join our growing 24/7 Emergency and Specialty Referral Hospital in San Marcos, California.


This is an exciting opportunity to build and grow a Dermatology service within an established, highly collaborative specialty hospital . You'll join a team that values multidisciplinary medicine, clinical education, and strong relationships between specialists, emergency clinicians, and support teams.


VSH North County currently brings together specialists in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Ophthalmology, Neurology, Cardiology, Medical Oncology, Diagnostic Imaging, Emergency, and Critical Care . This depth of specialty expertise creates an environment where complex cases can be approached collaboratively and patients can benefit from comprehensive care under one roof.


Our current 16,400-square-foot hospital includes multiple treatment wards, 10 exam rooms, four surgical suites, and the equipment and support necessary to establish and grow a Dermatology service. Your service will also have dedicated veterinary assistant or technician support, along with access to the broader hospital team.


One of the most exciting aspects of this opportunity is what's ahead: VSH North County is relocating to a new 35,000-square-foot hospital in San Marcos in early 2027. The new facility will significantly expand our clinical capacity and specialty space while bringing new equipment and capabilities to an already exceptional team.

In your day-to-day, you will

• Provide advanced dermatologic care for a diverse referral caseload
• Develop comprehensive diagnostic and treatment plans for patients with dermatologic conditions
• Establish and grow the Dermatology service at VSH North County
• Collaborate closely with Internal Medicine, Surgery, Ophthalmology, Neurology, Cardiology, Medical Oncology, Diagnostic Imaging, Emergency, and Critical Care
• Utilize the hospital's advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities to support dermatologic case management
• Work alongside dedicated veterinary assistants or technicians as well as the broader hospital support team
• Build strong relationships with referring veterinarians and serve as a trusted dermatology resource for the community
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and long-term management
• Participate in the hospital's active teaching program involving externs, rotating interns, specialty interns, and residents
• Pursue clinical interests and research opportunities with support from the VSH and Ethos teams
• Help shape the future of Dermatology as VSH North County transitions into its new 35,000-square-foot facility
• Contribute to a collaborative, education-focused environment built around high-quality medicine and patient care

What You Bring

• DVM or equivalent veterinary degree
• Board certification in Veterinary Dermatology or completion of a Dermatology residency with eligibility for board certification
• Eligibility for veterinary licensure in California
• Strong clinical and communication skills
• A collaborative approach to multidisciplinary medicine
• Commitment to exceptional patient and client care
• Interest in building and developing a Dermatology service
• Enthusiasm for teaching, mentorship, and continued professional development
• An interest in clinical research is encouraged and supported
