Led by attorneys Chris Johnson and Barbara Boone McGinnis, CELA, the firm focuses on protecting assets while coordinating care and maximizing quality of life and independence for older adults. An interdisciplinary team of care coordinators and other professionals collaborate to deliver holistic solutions that go beyond traditional elder law services. The firm serves families throughout Middle Tennessee from its offices in Hendersonville, providing compassionate, client-centered guidance tailored to each family’s unique situation. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Paralegal role based in Hendersonville, TN. The Paralegal will support attorneys in elder law and estate planning matters, including Life Care Planning cases. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and organizing legal documents, assisting with estate planning and long-term care planning files, conducting legal and factual research, and reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness. The role also involves maintaining case files, coordinating with clients and care team members, scheduling appointments, and drafting correspondence and summaries. The Paralegal will interact regularly with clients and their families, helping to gather information, explain next steps, and ensure that documentation and processes move forward efficiently. Qualifications Foundational knowledge of Law, particularly elder law and estate planning, with experience supporting attorneys in a legal practice. Strong Legal Document Preparation skills, including drafting, formatting, and organizing legal instruments such as powers of attorney, wills, trusts, and related planning documents. Excellent Communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with older adults, families, and internal team members. Proficient in Research related to statutes, regulations, and benefits programs (e.g., Medicaid, Medicare, long-term care), and able to synthesize findings for attorney review. Careful Document Review abilities, including attention to detail, consistency checking, and ensuring compliance with legal and firm standards. Relevant experience as a paralegal or legal assistant, preferably in elder law, estate planning, or related practice areas. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a busy office environment. Proficiency with legal practice management software, document management tools, and standard office applications (e.g., Microsoft Office). Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
